Auckland Havoc (New Zealand Paintball Team): Difference between revisions

From WikiPaintball
Moved and revised the North Island Havoc draft as Auckland Havoc (New Zealand Paintball Team) following contributor confirmation that it was Auckland-based. Distinguished it from the unrelated Ashburton Havoc and Wisconsin PBLeagues team, retained verified results from 2000 to 2004, and created a Havoc disambiguation page.

Created an evidence-based article for Auckland Havoc, covering its confirmed North Island results from 2000 to 2004, known personnel and event-specific use of Insane guest players. Distinguished it from the unrelated Ashburton Havoc team and left locationless 2011 and registration-only 2012 entries unresolved. Created a Havoc disambiguation page and appropriate qualified redirects.

Auckland Havoc, generally recorded simply as Havoc, was an Auckland-based New Zealand tournament paintball team documented in competition from 2000 to 2004. The team competed at national and regional events in Auckland, Whangārei and Rotorua, including the New Zealand Paintball Nationals, Northland Open, Volcanic Rotorua tournament and Auckland Super 5s.[1][3][4][12]

Havoc finished second in Division Two at the 2000 Actions Mayhem tournament, fourth in Division Two at the 2001 Volcanic Rotorua Paintball Tournament, third overall at the 2002 Northland Open and third at the 2002 Auckland 5-Man Tournament.[1][4][7][8]

History

[edit]

2000 season

[edit]

Havoc finished second in Division Two at the 2000 Actions Mayhem tournament, behind Assault Korps.[1]

At the 2000 Northland Open in Whangārei, Havoc finished seventh with 190 points. The tournament report records that the Havoc–Katipo game was stopped and restarted after Havoc began playing before the official start.[2]

Havoc also competed at the 2000 New Zealand Paintball Nationals. It recorded 420 preliminary points and was classified in Division Two but did not advance to the divisional final.[3]

2001 season

[edit]

At the 2001 Volcanic Rotorua Paintball Tournament, Havoc recorded 395 preliminary points and qualified for the Division Two final. It finished fourth in that division with 20 final-round points.[4]

Havoc finished eighth at the 2001 Northland Open with 250 points. During its game against Tag n' Release, a Havoc player identified only as Ange retrieved the opposing flag, eliminated the final opponent and completed the flag hang. Ange received the event's Player of the Match award for that game.[5]

Members of Havoc also assisted with refereeing at the 2001 New Zealand Paintball Nationals. Havoc was not listed as a playing entry at that tournament.[6]

2002 season

[edit]

Havoc placed third overall at the 2002 Northland Open with 430 points. It was classified in Division Two and recorded victories over Tag n' Release and Katipo.[7]

The team used unnamed members of Team Insane to complete its event squad. This was an event-specific guest-player arrangement rather than evidence that Havoc and Insane merged.[7]

At the 2002 Auckland 5-Man Tournament at Actions Paintball in Swanson, Havoc finished third with 540 points, behind Katipo and Kaos.[8]

Havoc also appeared in smaller-format competitions during 2002. It finished sixth with 250 points at the Combat Zone three-player tournament in Ardmore. Dave of Havoc was credited with operating the chronograph at that event.[9]

The team recorded 12 points in the June round of the Paintball West three-player league.[10]

At the 2002 Volcanic Rotorua Paintball Tournament, Havoc finished seventh in the Plate competition with 323 points.[11]

2003 Auckland Super 5s

[edit]

Havoc competed throughout the first half of the 2003 Auckland Super 5s season. It recorded points in each monthly round from February through June and finished fifth in the published mid-season standings with 1,754 championship points.[12]

The published mid-season table does not establish the team's final position for the complete 2003 season.

2004 Auckland Superball

[edit]

At the 2004 Auckland Queen's Birthday Superball tournament in Kumeu, Havoc qualified for the Plate competition and finished third, behind HSR and Final Impact.[13]

This is the latest confirmed appearance of Auckland Havoc identified in the inspected sources. It does not establish when the team ceased operating.

Team identity

[edit]

The sources document this Havoc entry in North Island competition from 2000 through 2004. A former participant has identified the team as Auckland-based.

An unrelated Ashburton team also named Havoc won the 2011 Southern Series II round robin and Ashburton Cup.[14] The surviving report identifies that team by location but supplies no player names. Former-participant identification confirms that Ashburton Havoc and Auckland Havoc were separate teams.

A locationless Havoc entry at the 2011 National Championships has not been assigned to either team. The Havoc listed in pre-event registration for the 2012 NZPPL Kāpiti Coast event is also unresolved. The 2012 list establishes registration rather than confirmed participation.[15]

Documented people
