Ashburton Havoc (New Zealand Paintball Team)
Ashburton Havoc, recorded in contemporary results simply as Havoc, was an Ashburton-based New Zealand tournament paintball team. The team won both the round-robin competition and the Ashburton Cup play-off at the 2011 Southern Series II tournament.[1]
History
[edit]Ashburton Havoc competed at Southern Series II in Ashburton in April 2011. The event used open-class five-player centre-flag games, with a double round robin followed by a four-team Ashburton Cup play-off.[1]
The organiser's results identified Havoc as an Ashburton team and placed it first in the round robin with 1,800 points. Clown Monkeys of Christchurch finished second with 1,712 points, followed by Flashpoint of Dunedin and Rascals of Palmerston North.[1]
Havoc then won the Ashburton Cup play-off. Clown Monkeys finished second, Rascals third and Flashpoint fourth.[1] The source reports the round-robin and Cup placings separately; the 1,800-point figure is therefore the team's round-robin total rather than a score for the Cup final.
The recovered discussion does not provide Havoc's roster, individual match scores or the score of the Cup final. It also does not establish the team's founding date.
Identity
[edit]Contributor identification confirms that Ashburton Havoc was unrelated to the earlier Auckland-based Auckland Havoc. The two teams are therefore treated as separate organisations despite using the same unqualified name in contemporary results.
A team named Havoc appeared on a pre-event list for the October 2011 NZPPL Nationals. A later message congratulated Havoc and referred to a close final, but neither message supplies a location or roster.[2] That entry is not assigned to Ashburton Havoc because the available evidence does not distinguish it from other teams using the name.
The Havoc listed for a 2012 NZPPL Kāpiti Coast event is likewise retained as an unresolved registration entry rather than a confirmed Ashburton Havoc appearance.[3]
