Liga Mexicana de Paintball

From WikiPaintball

Liga Mexicana de Paintball (LMP) is a Mexican paintball tournament circuit documented through its Road To World Cup programme in 2023–2026. Its events offer five-player X-Ball and, at selected rounds, three-player competition.[1][2][3] Its relationship to earlier organisations using similar names has not been established as a formal succession.

Documented history

[edit]

Road To World Cup programme

[edit]

The earliest event in the recovered LMP tournament archive is the 2023 Road To World Cup Dye, dated 22–23 April 2023 at Sykaryos Paintball in Mexico City.[1][2] This is a documented competition date, not a verified founding date for the league.

The 2023 Road To World Cup calendar comprised Dye, Eclipse and Recoil events. The Recoil information explicitly described it as the third round of Liga Mexicana de Paintball.[1][3]

Four-round calendars followed in 2024, 2025 and 2026. Event records identify venues including Sykaryos Paintball and Gotcha Mexico in Mexico City, Gotcha Lerma Dragon Paintball listed under Toluca, and Centro Vacacional IMSS Oaxtepec.[1] Individual event and season articles distinguish venue listings from unresolved discrepancies in event titles.

The league's PBLeagues archive links to ligamexicanadepaintball.com. The March 2026 Planet Eclipse event information also links to that website and instructs participants to read the NXL rules.[1][4] That rules instruction does not independently establish formal NXL affiliation.

Announced season incentives

[edit]

The January 2025 event information advertised World Cup entry for the series champion and free 2026 entry in the next division for the Division 4 season champion.[5] These are documented announcements, rather than verification that the awards were delivered.

Annual round-ups

[edit]

The annual articles cover the individual rounds, published final standings and discrepancies in the underlying records.[1][6][7][8][9]

Season Listed rounds Division 3 standings leader Division 4 standings leader
2023 Road To World Cup Three: Dye, Eclipse and Recoil Sykaryos VAGOS RONNIN
2024 Road To World Cup Four: Eclipse, Carbon PB, HK and Hormesis SPARTANS PAINTBALL TEAM Obsidian Dragons
2025 Road To World Cup Four: Carbon Paintball, Eclipse, Recoil and Dye Paintball Sykaryos ANGELS
2026 Road To World Cup Four: Planet Eclipse, Querétaro, Mexico City and Oaxtepec Sykaryos VAGOS RONNIN

Divisional programmes varied. Tercias D4 appears only at Recoil in the 2023 season standings. Division 5 and Pink & Purple appear only at Hormesis in 2024. Their season tables should not be read as evidence of competition at every round.[6][7]

Competition and records

[edit]

The April 2023 event used the names Abierta and Novatos, offering twelve-minute and ten-minute X-Ball respectively.[2] The October round also offered three-player Tercias D4 race-to-two.[3]

By January 2025, the published programme included Division 3, Division 4, Entry D5 and women's Pink & Purple. The three-player competitions were listed with three-minute games.[5] March 2026 information instead advertised five-minute, mercy-two three-player games.[4] Formats and division labels therefore follow individual event records rather than a single assumed rule set for the league's entire history.

PBLeagues supplies event placings, scores and season rankings. These records sometimes contain missing scorelines, coded outcomes, differing team names or division-movement exclusions. The annual round-ups retain the published distinctions between event placings and season classifications.[6][7][8][9]

Earlier leagues and names

[edit]

Mexican Paintball League and Mexican Xball League

[edit]

The Spanish name Liga Mexicana de Paintball also appears in earlier accounts of Mexican tournament paintball. Saraí Fuentes García's 2009 UNAM study discusses a national league using that name.[10] Similar wording alone does not identify it as the organisation operating the recovered 2023–2026 programme.

PBLeagues maintains LMP's Road To World Cup records under league number 534. A separate archive, number 120, contains Mexican Paintball League (MPL) and later Mexican Xball League (MXL) events.[1][11] These archives document distinct tournament records; they do not establish ownership history or a merger, split or renaming between the organisations.

Earlier Road To World Cup, SMP and MXball

[edit]

Fuentes García describes an early Mexican Road To World Cup series and reports that its organisers combined their competition with PGP Masters Cup in early 2005 to form Serial Mexicano de Paintball (SMP). The study discusses MXball separately.[10]

The shared Road To World Cup name does not establish uninterrupted operation from that earlier series to the LMP programme documented from 2023. No verified formal succession connects the present archive to SMP or MXball.
