Team Atrox

Team Atrox was a Singaporean all-female competitive paintball team documented in November 2008. The team was introduced by the contemporary publication Paintball in Singapore 101 as Singapore's first locally established all-female paintball team.[1]

Led by a player known as Grimreaper, Team Atrox emerged during the early development of organised tournament paintball in Singapore, following the introduction of the Singapore Paintball Novice Series (SPNS) in March 2008.[1][2]

History

Establishment (2008)

Team Atrox was publicly introduced on 26 November 2008 in an article entitled "Singapore's First All-Female Team", published by Paintball in Singapore 101.

The article contrasted Singapore's emerging women's tournament scene with neighbouring Malaysia, where established all-female teams included Tornado Angels, Venus and Sogo Ballbusters.[1]

Although female players had previously competed in Singaporean tournaments, Team Atrox was identified by the publication as the country's first locally established all-female team.

Earlier in 2008, PSG Charlie, a team composed of Filipino expatriate women, had competed in the Singapore Paintball Novice Series and Malaysian tournaments.[1][3]

Leadership

Team Atrox was led by a player known by the nickname Grimreaper.

Before leading Team Atrox, Grimreaper had competed in all three rounds of the 2008 Singapore Paintball Novice Series, one round of the Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit (MPOC) and several smaller tournaments.[1]

The contemporary announcement identified her previous tournament experience as an important contribution to the development of the new team.

Subsequent activity

In January 2009, Paintball in Singapore 101 mentioned Team Atrox among the Singaporean teams the author had hoped to see competing at a Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit tournament in Kuala Lumpur.[4]

The available records do not establish a confirmed tournament appearance under the Team Atrox name.
