History

[edit]

Background

[edit]

Paintball was introduced to Singapore as a recreational activity before the establishment of Red Dynasty Paintball Park.

During the 1990s and early 2000s, recreational paintball was offered by operators including TAG Paintball and Power Paintball Park.

Competitive tournament paintball developed more slowly.

A contemporary October 2008 history of Singapore paintball identified Red Dynasty Paintball Park as the country's first dedicated speedball facility.[3]

Its establishment provided local tournament players with a regular training venue.

Establishment in 2007

[edit]

Red Dynasty Paintball Park was founded by Ben Seow and Jane Koh.

The founders were involved in competitive paintball and sought to establish a facility where players could practise the sport in Singapore.

According to the park's retrospective history, the business was registered with Singapore's Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority in December 2007 and began operating that month.[1]

The original facility opened at Bottle Tree Park in Khatib.

The name "Red Dynasty" was chosen partly because red appears on Singapore's national flag.

The founders also associated the word "Dynasty" with the beginning of a new competitive paintball community.

The original business offered recreational paintball and corporate team-building activities.

It began with slightly more than a dozen paintball markers available for group bookings.

Early staff and Red Sevens

[edit]

The founders' competitive paintball connections were important during the park's early development.

Members of Red Sevens, one of Singapore's earliest competitive paintball teams, worked as facilitators at the original field.

The park's historical account identifies Thomas as its first part-time employee.

The founders credited early staff and players with helping introduce recreational customers to the sport.

Red Sevens had been established in 2006, before Red Dynasty Paintball Park opened.

The team should therefore not be described as having been founded at the park.

However, its members became closely associated with the development of the venue and Singapore's emerging competitive scene.

Introduction of tournament paintball, 2008

[edit]

Red Dynasty Paintball Park supported the creation of the Singapore Paintball Novice Series (SPNS).

The inaugural competition was held on 30 March 2008.

Seven teams competed in a three-player format using Tippmann A5 paintball markers.[4]

The tournament was designed to introduce inexperienced players to competitive paintball.

Red Dynasty Paintball Park provided facilities and organisational support.

The first series was held across three tournament legs.

The competition expanded during its inaugural season.

A contemporary June 2008 report recorded fifteen teams participating in Leg 2, compared with seven at the opening leg.[5]

The report identified PSG Warfreakz as the Leg 2 champions.

The tournament also involved cooperation between the Paintball Association (Singapore) and Malaysian Marshals.

Development of Singapore speedball

[edit]

Red Dynasty Paintball Park was an important training venue for Singaporean tournament players.

Its speedball facilities allowed players to practise competitive movement, shooting, communication and game strategy.

The park also supported introductory training courses.

These activities helped establish a pathway between recreational paintball and competitive tournament participation.

The park's historical records identify the development of speedball as one of its founding objectives.

Singapore Paintball Novice Series 2009

[edit]

The Singapore Paintball Novice Series continued during 2009.

The competition expanded beyond Red Dynasty Paintball Park.

The organisers staged five-player tournaments at public venues including Pasir Ris and West Coast.

This expansion introduced competitive paintball to audiences outside commercial paintball facilities.

Red Dynasty remained associated with the competition's development.

Singapore Paintball Series 2010

[edit]

In 2010, the Singapore Paintball Novice Series was renamed the Singapore Paintball Series.

The new name reflected the organisers' intention to accommodate more experienced competitors.

The series introduced an Open Division using electronic paintball markers.

Red Dynasty Paintball Park continued supporting player development and competitive training.

The park also hosted introductory courses for new tournament players.

Red Sevens Basic Paintball Course

[edit]

On 6 June 2010, Red Sevens advertised a Basic Paintball Course at Red Dynasty Paintball Park.

The course was intended for players interested in learning competitive paintball.

The published programme included shooting practice, introductory games and basic instruction.

The advertised participation fee was S$55, including 300 paintballs.

The announcement identified Red Sevens as the reigning Paintball Asia League Series Division 2 champion.[6]

The course provides a documented example of structured player development at the park.

Singapore Polytechnic paintball development

[edit]

Red Dynasty Paintball Park was involved in introducing paintball to students at Singapore Polytechnic.

A contemporary May 2010 report described the park's participation in the institution's student activities programme.

Approximately one hundred students registered for an introductory paintball trial.

Forty-five attended the trial at Red Dynasty Paintball Park.

The programme included fitness drills, communication exercises and introductory speedball games.

The organisers selected participants for further development.

The initiative was intended to support the establishment of a Singapore Polytechnic paintball team.[7]

The available source documents the recruitment and training initiative but does not independently establish the club's subsequent formal registration.

Expansion during the 2010s

[edit]

Red Dynasty Paintball Park expanded beyond its original Bottle Tree Park location.

The business developed or managed paintball facilities at several recreational and sporting venues across Singapore.

These included:

  • Tampines Bike Park
  • Fairway Club in Jurong
  • Turf City in Bukit Timah
  • ORTO in Khatib

The business also operated an associated battlefield activity under the Operation685 name.

The expansion allowed the organisation to serve recreational customers, corporate groups and competitive players in different parts of Singapore.

Relocation and current operations

[edit]

The park's historical location list records the end of operations at Turf City in 2023.

In 2024, Red Dynasty Paintball Park began operating at Orchid Country Club in Yishun.

The current facility is managed by Aim and Action Pte Ltd.

The business continues to offer paintball and other team-building activities by advance reservation.

The closure of individual historical locations should not be confused with the closure of Red Dynasty Paintball Park as an operating business.[2]

Historical locations

[edit]

Red Dynasty Paintball Park operated at several locations over its history.

The following chronology is based on the organisation's published historical records.[2]

Location Years Notes
Bottle Tree Park, Khatib 2007–2014 Original Red Dynasty Paintball Park
Operation685 Battlefield, Camp Challenge, Sembawang 2009–2017 Associated battlefield operation
Tampines Bike Park 2012 Short-lived paintball venue
Fairway Club, Jurong 2013–2015 Recreational paintball facility
Turf City, Bukit Timah 2013–2023 Tournament and recreational paintball facilities
ORTO, Khatib 2014–2020 Recreational and scenario paintball venue
Jakarta, Indonesia 2020–2021 Overseas operation listed in the company's history
Orchid Country Club, Yishun 2024–present Current Singapore location

The overlapping dates demonstrate that the organisation operated multiple facilities during some periods.

The locations should not be interpreted as a simple sequence of complete business relocations.

Bottle Tree Park

[edit]

The original Red Dynasty Paintball Park opened at Bottle Tree Park in Khatib in December 2007.

The facility supported recreational paintball, competitive training and early Singapore tournament development.

The Singapore Paintball Novice Series held its first competition there in March 2008.

The park's original location remained associated with Red Dynasty until 2014.

Operation685 Battlefield

[edit]

Operation685 Battlefield was an associated recreational activity located at Camp Challenge in Sembawang.

The organisation's historical records list its operation from 2009 to 2017.

Further research is required to establish the precise nature of the venue's games, its facilities and its relationship to the main tournament operation.

Tampines Bike Park

[edit]

Red Dynasty operated a paintball venue at Tampines Bike Park during 2012.

The company's historical location list records only that year.

The facility's exact operating dates and tournament history remain to be established.

Fairway Club, Jurong

[edit]

Red Dynasty operated at Fairway Club in Jurong from 2013 to 2015.

The historical venue was located at 11 Japanese Garden Road.

The location offered recreational paintball in an outdoor playing area.

Turf City, Bukit Timah

[edit]

Red Dynasty Paintball Park operated at Turf City from 2013 to 2023.

The venue became particularly important for competitive paintball.

A 2018 historical account described two international-sized artificial-turf fields at the Bukit Timah facility.

The fields supported international tournament play and competitive team training.[1]

The park's published history records the end of the Turf City operation in 2023.

ORTO, Khatib

[edit]

Red Dynasty Paintball Park operated at ORTO from 2014 to 2020.

The venue included a close-quarters recreational paintball arena.

The company's historical account described a themed playing environment called DynastyVille, incorporating artificial buildings, walls and a large tank replica.[1]

The facility offered a different experience from traditional inflatable-bunker speedball.

Historical visitor information also described night games using floodlighting.

Jakarta, Indonesia

[edit]

Red Dynasty's published history lists a Jakarta operation from 2020 to 2021.

This represents a documented overseas project associated with the organisation.

The exact venue, legal operating entity and tournament activities have not been independently established.

Orchid Country Club

[edit]

In 2024, Red Dynasty Paintball Park began operating at Orchid Country Club in Yishun.

The published field address is:

1 Orchid Club Road, Singapore 769162.

The current venue offers outdoor paintball and other team-building activities.

The business operates by advance reservation rather than unrestricted walk-in access.

Its website identifies Aim and Action Pte Ltd as the current operating company.[2][8]

Tournament involvement

[edit]

Singapore Paintball Novice Series

[edit]

Red Dynasty Paintball Park was closely associated with the establishment of the Singapore Paintball Novice Series.

The inaugural competition was held on 30 March 2008.

The series provided structured tournament opportunities for novice players.

The competition developed into the Singapore Paintball Series in 2010.

Paintball Asia League Series

[edit]

Red Dynasty Paintball Park also supported international competitive paintball.

The company's 2018 historical account described the 2016 Paintball Asia League Series Singapore tournament as an important event at its Turf City facility.

The organisers reported participation by 39 teams representing several countries and territories.

These included the United States, Australia, Thailand, Guam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei and Malaysia.[1]

The event demonstrated Singapore's ability to host regional tournament paintball.

International coaching clinics

[edit]

The park hosted visiting professional paintball players and coaches.

In 2017, professional player Oliver Lang visited Red Dynasty Paintball Park for a paintball clinic.

The park's historical account recorded his comments about the venue and its facilities.[1]

Such clinics provided opportunities for local players to learn from internationally experienced competitors.

Recreational paintball

[edit]

Corporate team building

[edit]

Corporate team building was one of Red Dynasty Paintball Park's original activities.

The business initially operated with a small rental-marker inventory.

It subsequently expanded its facilities, equipment and event capacity.

Its activities included organised recreational games for companies, schools and social groups.

Sunday Skirmish

[edit]

Red Dynasty Paintball Park historically organised regular recreational gatherings known as Sunday Skirmish.

These sessions provided opportunities for experienced and inexperienced players to participate in paintball.

The programme was described in the park's 2018 retrospective.[1]

The available source does not establish whether the same programme continues under its original name in 2026.

Operation Stronghold

[edit]

In 2015, Red Dynasty Paintball Park organised a scenario-style event known as Operation Stronghold.

The park's historical account described the event as a three-hour military-simulation paintball game involving approximately 200 participants.[1]

The event illustrates the organisation's activities beyond conventional speedball tournaments.

Other recreational activities

[edit]

Red Dynasty expanded into additional group activities over time.

Its current website advertises activities including:

  • Paintball
  • Gel ball
  • Laser tag
  • Archery tag
  • Cornhole

These activities form part of the business's wider team-building operations.

They should be distinguished from its historical role in competitive paintball.

Associated organisations

[edit]

Red Sevens

[edit]

Red Sevens was established in 2006 and became closely associated with Red Dynasty Paintball Park.

Early team members worked as facilitators at the original venue.

The team also participated in introductory coaching and tournament development activities.

Its relationship with the park was important to the development of Singapore's early competitive paintball community.

Singapore Paintball Series

[edit]

The Singapore Paintball Series originated as the Singapore Paintball Novice Series in March 2008.

Red Dynasty supported the early competition and provided facilities for novice players.

The tournament later expanded to public locations across Singapore.

Paintball Association (Singapore)

[edit]

The Paintball Association (Singapore) (PBAS) was involved in the development of competitive paintball in Singapore during the 2000s.

A contemporary 2008 tournament report documented cooperation between PBAS and Malaysian Marshals during the Singapore Paintball Novice Series.

The association and the commercial park should be treated as separate organisational entities.

Paintballers World

[edit]

Paintballers World was a Singaporean paintball retail business associated with Jane Koh and the development of the local paintball community.

A 2025 profile of Koh stated that the pro shop was established in 2010.[9]

The exact legal and commercial relationship between Paintballers World and Red Dynasty Paintball Park requires further documentation.

Founders

[edit]

Ben Seow

[edit]

Ben Seow was a co-founder of Red Dynasty Paintball Park.

He was involved in competitive paintball and the development of Singapore's early tournament community.

He was also identified as a tournament promoter for the Singapore Paintball Series.

Jane Koh

[edit]

Jane Koh was a co-founder of Red Dynasty Paintball Park.

She was involved in Singapore's competitive paintball community before the park opened.

Her activities included tournament organisation, player development and the promotion of women's paintball.

She served as tournament director of the Singapore Paintball Series during its early years.

A June 2025 profile in Paintball Media Magazine also described her involvement in the establishment of the Asia Girls Paintball International Competition in 2017.[9]

Historical significance

[edit]

Red Dynasty Paintball Park played a major role in the development of competitive paintball in Singapore.

Established in December 2007, it provided a dedicated speedball training facility at a time when organised tournament paintball was still developing locally.

Its support for the Singapore Paintball Novice Series helped establish a regular competition pathway for new players.

The park also contributed to referee development, introductory coaching, university participation and international tournament activity.

The Turf City facility became an important competitive venue, including for the 2016 Paintball Asia League Series Singapore event.

Red Dynasty's expansion into multiple locations illustrates the development of commercial paintball operations in Singapore.

Its continued operation at Orchid Country Club in 2026 makes it an important surviving organisation from the country's early speedball era.
