From WikiPaintball

Sinista was a New Zealand tournament paintball team documented in Auckland competition during 2006 and 2007. The team finished third in Division 2 of the 2006 Super 5s championship, won the Amateur division at the 2007 Northland Open and led the interim 2007 Super 5s Division 2 standings after six rounds.[1][2][3]

History

[edit]

2006 season

[edit]

A contemporary Super 5s announcement described Sinista as a team that had begun competing during 2006. The report stated that Sinista and fellow new team Cut-throats had both recorded game victories against established sides including XXX and Legion.[4]

Sinista finished third in Division 2 of the 2006 Super 5s with 5,077 championship points, behind Legion and Solid.[1]

At the final round on 3 December 2006, Sinista placed fourth in the combined classification with 696 points. A player identified only as Hayden of Sinista was named the series' Player of the Year. The team also received Sue's Award for Messiest Team.[1]

2007 Northland Open

[edit]

Sinista competed in the Amateur division of the 2007 Northland Open, held at A Paintball Adventure in Papakura on 4 February 2007. The team won the division ahead of Nemisis, Pirates and Punx.[2]

2007 Super 5s

[edit]

Sinista competed in Division 2 of the 2007 Super 5s and appeared in all six recovered rounds between February and August.[5][6][7][8][9][3]

The team finished second in Division 2 at the opening round, scoring 524 points. In the combined classifications used for later rounds, Sinista placed seventh in March, third in April and June, second in July and third in August.[5][6][7][8][9][3]

After the August round, Sinista led the published interim Division 2 standings with 3,168 points, ahead of Nemisis and 7DS.[3] Later rounds were announced, but surviving results have not established the team's final 2007 championship position.

Team identity and spelling

[edit]

The recovered 2006 and 2007 tournament sources consistently identify the team as Sinista.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] No contemporary team-controlled source has been found establishing Sinister as an alternative or corrected spelling.

No complete Sinista roster has been recovered. The 2006 season awards identify a player called Hayden, but do not provide his surname.[1]
