Nexa Paintball Supplies
Nexa Paintball Supplies was the paintball business of Nexa New Zealand Limited, an Auckland-based supplier and distributor. Its archived websites document sales of paintball equipment and ammunition from 2006 and the launch of paintballshop.co.nz in March 2007. Nexa was also associated with a tournament team and proposed five-player championships in 2007.[1][2][3]
History
[edit]Nexa's website described the business as established in 2003, supplying information technology, consumer electronics and leisure products, including paintball equipment. Nexa New Zealand Limited was incorporated on 29 April 2005 under company number 1627046. The website's stated establishment date therefore predates the incorporation of the registered company.[1][4]
The Companies Register lists Lilian Mary Pope as a director appointed on 29 April 2005 and as the holder of all 100 shares. In 2007, Nexa described its operating location as St Johns, Auckland.[1][5][6]
An October 2006 announcement advertised stocks and pre-orders of paintball equipment and accessories. In February 2007, Nexa announced an expanding paintball range, including Kingman's Spyder products. Its company website described Nexa as an authorised distributor for Kingman USA.[1][2]
Online retail
[edit]In March 2007, Nexa announced the launch of paintballshop.co.nz as its online paintball store. An archived version from 18 October 2007 identifies Nexa New Zealand Limited as the operator and lists product categories including markers, masks, air systems, paintballs, teamwear, loaders, harnesses, bunkers and spare parts.[2][3]
The Companies Register records Nexa New Zealand Limited as registered from 29 April 2005 to 26 July 2011 and subsequently removed. This does not establish when its paintball trading ceased or when ownership of the Paintball Shop business changed.[4]
Tournament involvement
[edit]The Nexa team competed in the fourth round of the 2007 Super 5s on 24 June 2007. The contemporary tournament report associated the entry with Nexa Paintball Supplies. Nexa finished twelfth with 160 points, recording its only win against Sinista.[7]
In June 2007, a proposal was announced for a Nexa-sponsored five-player championship at A Paintball Adventure in Papakura. It advertised cash and product prizes and several grades of Nexa paintballs, priced from NZ$85 to no more than NZ$100 per case.[8]
The original proposal required at least eleven teams and an entry fee of NZ$800 per team. On 8 August 2007, it was cancelled and replaced by a lower-cost proposal for the 2007 NEXA 5s Championship. The replacement retained the Papakura venue and was scheduled for 3–4 November 2007, with entry reduced to NZ$250 per team and revised prizes. Three grades of paint were advertised at a maximum of NZ$120 per case.[8][9]
The replacement announcement initially listed no confirmed teams. The surviving discussions do not establish that the tournament took place.[9]
