2007 NEXA 5s Championship

From WikiPaintball

The 2007 NEXA 5s Championship was a proposed five-player paintball tournament scheduled for 3–4 November 2007 at A Paintball Adventure in Papakura, Auckland. The revised announcement specified professional and Division 2 competition, with the event conditional on at least ten teams registering and paying by 10 September.[1][2]

Announcement and revision

[edit]

An initial proposal circulated in June 2007 described a NEXA-sponsored tournament intended to replace the Big Boys Toys event. It advertised an entry fee of $800 per team and required at least eleven teams. Following discussion of alternative weekends, 3–4 November was announced in July.[1]

On 8 August, a notice reproduced in the NZ P8NT forum cancelled that proposal and announced a replacement NEXA 5s Championship at the same venue and on the same November dates. The revised entry fee was $250 per team, with a minimum of ten paid entries.[1]

The replacement advertised professional cash prizes of $750, $500 and $250 for the first three places, alongside product prizes. Division 2 advertised $250 and product prizes for the winner, with product prizes for second and third.[1][2]

A separate announcement thread opened on 10 August reproduced the revised terms. Its team list stated that no teams had yet been confirmed.[2]
