2023 WCPL Montressor Classic
The 2023 WCPL Montressor Classic was a paintball tournament held on 29–30 July 2023 at Fox Paintball in Newark, Illinois. Recorded by PBLeagues as the Montressor Classic, it formed part of the Iron City Classic event lineage and contributed results to the World Classic Paintball League's 2023 standings.[1][2][3]
Colorado United Black won the 19-team open ten-player competition, followed by Indy Reign and Prime Suspects.[4]
Name and tournament relationships
[edit]Contemporary publicity used the names Iron City Classic/Montressor Classic and ICC/Montressor. The tournament honoured Tim Montressor, who helped establish the Iron City Classic in 2017 and died in 2020.[5]
PBLeagues lists the 2023 Montressor Classic in its Iron City Classic archive, alongside earlier Pennsylvania events and the 2022 ICC/Montressor Classic held in New York.[2]
The same 2023 event also appears in the WCPL season standings. Its ICC listing and WCPL results therefore describe one tournament, rather than separate competitions.[1][3]
Venue and dates
[edit]The event took place on Saturday, 29 July, and Sunday, 30 July 2023. PBLeagues listed the venue as Fox Paintball, 10389 Fox River Drive, Newark, Illinois.[1]
A June 2023 announcement from exhibitor T4E identified Fox Paintball as the host and described the planned playing environments as woodland and hyperball fields.[5]
Format
[edit]PBLeagues listed the competition as Open 10v10 (Sat–Sun), with ten-minute games. Nineteen teams were recorded as registered and paid, and all 19 received final placings.[1][4]
The final results contain one open ten-player division.[4]
Advance publicity referred to a prospective 36-team field. That figure should be distinguished from the 19 teams recorded in the completed event results.[4][5]
