Wong Yoong Peow, commonly known as YP Wong and also styled YP “Maverick” Wong, is a Malaysian paintball organiser associated with the Malaysian National Paintball League (MY-NPL) and Delta Rovers Paintball Club.

Wong appeared as an MY-NPL organiser contact from at least 2007 and was identified as the league's president in a 2010 season announcement.[1][2] During the 2010 initiative to establish the Malaysia Paintball Federation, he was initially identified as an MY-NPL promoter and was subsequently named secretary general of the provisional steering committee under the affiliation Delta Rovers Paintball Club.[3]

He should not be confused with Nicholas Wong Yew Khid, the founder of Napshot Avenue and a representative of the Selangor Paintball Association. Both men appear separately in the contemporary federation records.[3]

Paintball involvement

[edit]

Malaysian National Paintball League

[edit]

Wong was associated with MY-NPL administration during the league's multi-round national seasons.

An announcement for the 2007 season finale at the Malaysian Paintball Academy (MAPAAC) listed YP Wong among the principal MY-NPL contacts, alongside tournament director Sofian Daud and other league officials.[1]

MY-NPL announcements continued to name him as an organiser contact during subsequent seasons. Material for the 2009 season used the name “YP ‘Maverick’ Wong” and provided an MY-NPL email address for him.[4]

A January 2010 season announcement identified Wong as MY-NPL President.[2] This is the clearest located contemporary source for his position within the league.

His documented activities included acting as a contact for teams and appearing in announcements concerning season calendars, registration and related competitions. The available sources do not establish the exact date on which he became president or how long he held the position.

[edit]

Wong appeared in material for competitions associated with MY-NPL.

The announcement for the Nemesis X-Tour in March 2008 listed him under the name YP “Maverick” Wong and identified MY-NPL, the Malaysian Paintball Referee Organisation and MAPAAC among the organisations associated with the event.[5]

He was also named in MY-NPL announcements covering related competitions including the International Super Seven Championship and Malaysian Super Lite.[6]

These listings establish an administrative connection through MY-NPL. They do not necessarily establish that Wong was the sole organiser or owner of each competition.

Delta Rovers

[edit]

Contemporary federation records associated Wong with Delta Rovers Paintball Club.[3]

The Delta Rovers name was also used by a Malaysian tournament team that competed in MY-NPL and other domestic events. The available sources establish Wong's club affiliation but do not provide a complete roster or define whether he acted as a player, manager, owner or sponsor of the competition team throughout its history.

A business using the name Team Delta Rovers Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. later published YP Wong as a contact under a Delta Rovers email address.[7] A Malaysian sports-industry directory separately listed Wong Yoong Peow in connection with Delta Rovers Malaysia.[8]

These records support the identification of YP Wong as Wong Yoong Peow. They do not establish that every historical use of the Delta Rovers name referred to the same legal organisation.

Malaysia Paintball Federation

[edit]

In February 2010, Wong participated in the documented initiative to establish a national paintball federation.

Before the public hearing held on 25 February, a proposed committee list identified “Wong Yoong Peow” as a promoter representing MY-NPL.[3]

Following the hearing, the published provisional steering committee named “YP Wong” as secretary general and gave his affiliation as Delta Rovers Paintball Club.[3] The matching initials, league context and committee sequence establish that the two entries refer to the same person.

The provisional committee should not be confused with a formally elected executive board under an adopted constitution. The available records do not establish that the federation elections proposed for October 2010 took place.

Wong's appointment demonstrates his participation in the formation initiative but does not establish that MY-NPL or Delta Rovers controlled the federation.

Relationship with other organisations

[edit]

Malaysian Paintball Academy

[edit]

MAPAAC was the principal venue associated with MY-NPL. Wong appeared as an MY-NPL contact in announcements for events held at the academy.[1]

The records demonstrate an administrative association but do not establish that Wong personally owned MAPAAC.

Tactical Action

[edit]

Several MY-NPL announcements directed registration payments to Tactical Action Sdn. Bhd. while separately naming Wong and other league officials as contacts.[4]

This establishes cooperation between the organisations. It does not establish Wong's employment, ownership or directorship within Tactical Action.

Nicholas Wong Yew Khid

[edit]

Wong Yoong Peow and Nicholas Wong Yew Khid were separately identified in the February 2010 federation records.

Wong Yoong Peow represented the MY-NPL promoter sector and later appeared as provisional secretary general under Delta Rovers Paintball Club. Nicholas Wong represented the Selangor Paintball Association and appeared separately among the additional provisional committee members.[3]

They should therefore retain separate articles and redirects.
