Malaysian Super Lite
- Not to be confused with the later Malaysia Paintball Super League (MPSL).
Malaysian Super Lite (MSL), also styled Malaysia Super Lite, was a Malaysian tournament paintball competition organised by Nemesis Paintball Club with the Malaysian National Paintball League (MY-NPL). It used a shortened race-to-three tournament format and was held at the Malaysian Paintball Academy (MAPAAC) in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.[1][2]
The first documented edition was held in 2009. A second edition followed in 2010, and another event was included in the provisional MY-NPL calendar for 2011.[1][3][4]
Format
[edit]The 2009 tournament used an X-ball Lite format in which teams raced to three points within an eight-minute match period, with a maximum of five points played.[1] Semi-automatic uncapped and PSP burst modes capped at 12 balls per second were permitted. Other competition rules were drawn from the MY-NPL rule book.[1]
The principal competition was divided into Open and Amateur/Novice categories. A separate Division 4 tournament was held concurrently under the standard MY-NPL rules.[1][2]
For the 2010 edition, the match period was increased to 13 minutes while retaining the race-to-three structure.[3]
2009 edition
[edit]The inaugural Malaysian Super Lite was held at MAPAAC, Kompleks Sukan Astaka, Petaling Jaya, on 10 and 11 October 2009.[1][2] Nemesis Paintball Club and MY-NPL headquarters jointly invited and registered the participating teams.[1]
Twenty-two teams competed: six in Open, six in Amateur/Novice and ten in Division 4.[2] Nemesis Legion won the Open division, Marauders Elite won Amateur/Novice and JS won Division 4.[2]
| Division | Teams | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Open | 6 | Nemesis Legion | Delta Rovers | Raskal | Xtioneer |
| Amateur/Novice | 6 | Marauders Elite | No Mercy | JB Syndicate | EJPC |
| Division 4 | 10 | JS | Yin Yang | Bamboo Bullets | Fevakuza |
A retrospective published by No Mercy independently records the team's second-place finish in the Amateur/Novice division.[5]
2010 edition
[edit]The second Malaysia Super Lite was held at MAPAAC from 8 to 10 October 2010, with competition scheduled across the weekend following the field walk and captains' meeting.[3] It was again organised by Nemesis Paintball Club with MY-NPL and used a race-to-three format.[3]
No complete result sheet for the 2010 edition has been located.
Proposed 2011 edition
[edit]MY-NPL's provisional 2011 calendar scheduled Malaysian Super Lite 2011 for 1 and 2 October at MAPAAC.[4] No reliable results or other confirmation that the scheduled event occurred have been located.

Relationship to the Malaysia Paintball Super League
[edit]Malaysian Super Lite used the abbreviation MSL and was associated with Nemesis Paintball Club and MY-NPL between 2009 and 2011.[1][3][4]
The separately named Malaysia Paintball Super League (MPSL) is documented as a multi-leg competition using the MPSL abbreviation in 2024.[6][7] Available records do not establish organisational continuity between the two competitions, and they are treated as distinct tournament series.
