Latest revision as of 07:11, 27 October 2026

Crisis Paintball Northland is a New Zealand paintball team from Whangārei. Historical tournament reports recorded the team as Crisis and Team Crisis. The team competed nationally from 1999 to 2000, supplied referees for the 2001 Northland Open and later returned to documented competition during the 2020s.[1][2][3][4]

Contributor information confirms that the historical and modern Crisis entries represent the same team identity, with a mixture of returning and newer players. The surviving sources do not establish continuous tournament activity between 2001 and 2023.

History

[edit]

Early tournament appearances

[edit]

Crisis competed at the 1999 Northland Open, held at Omana Paintball Field on 28 February. The team scored 196 points, finishing eighth overall and third in Division Two.[2]

At the 1999 Auckland Easter Tournament, Team Crisis finished sixth among ten entries with 769 points. Paul “Spider” McKay's contemporary report described the event as the team's second tournament and praised its performance against more experienced opposition.[3]

Team Crisis subsequently competed at the 1999 New Zealand Paintball Nationals, held on 23–24 October. It finished seventh among thirteen teams with 555 points. The contemporary report explicitly identified Team Crisis as a Whangārei team.[4]

Northland Open and Nationals, 2000

[edit]

At the 2000 Northland Open, held at Jubilee Park in Whangārei on 27 February, Crisis finished third overall and won Division Two with 445 points.[5]

The team subsequently competed in Division One at the 2000 New Zealand Paintball Nationals. Crisis scored 535 preliminary points but did not advance to the four-team divisional final, placing it fourth among the remaining Division One entries in the published classification.[6]

Refereeing, 2001

[edit]

Team Crisis supplied the marshals for the 2001 Northland Open, held at Jubilee Park on 25 February. The event was organised by Brent of Strategy Tag.[7]

This refereeing role documents the team's continued involvement in Northland paintball during 2001, but it was not a Crisis tournament entry.

Modern competition

[edit]

Crisis Paintball Northland's official Facebook profile describes the organisation as an amateur sports club and team.[1]

Contributor information confirms that the modern team retains the historical Crisis identity while combining returning players with newer members. No complete source-supported comparison of the early and modern rosters has been recovered.

Crisis appeared in the April and June draws for the 2023 Arena 5 Man Race Series.[8][9] These records establish scheduled entries; the draws alone do not supply final placings.

The team was also named in the revised Easter and King's Birthday draws for the 2024 Arena programme.[10][11]

In March 2025, Crisis was listed in Pool B of the 2025 Arena programme, alongside Ballistics Unit, BOP Blast, Surge, Lumber Jacks and Immortal Knights.[12]
