2024 Arena Paintball Race Events
The 2024 Arena Paintball Race Events were three paintball tournaments advertised through Paintball Direct for Arena Paintball, 558 Kimbolton Road, Feilding, New Zealand. The published programme listed weekends in March, June and October 2024.[1]
Calendar
[edit]| Event | Advertised dates |
|---|---|
| Easter | 30–31 March 2024 |
| King’s Birthday | 1–2 June 2024 |
| Labour weekend | 26–27 October 2024 |
These dates appeared on Paintball Direct’s registration page.[1]
Format
[edit]The advertised format used ten-minute games with a three-point mercy rule and a hopper-and-four-pod limit. Each tournament was planned over two days, with round-robin play, semi-finals and finals. Separate Cup and Plate finals were advertised.[1]
The original registration page capped each tournament at ten teams. On 3 June, the organiser announced that the October event’s capacity had been increased to fourteen teams.[1][4]
Teams
[edit]Easter
[edit]The revised Easter draw named Ballistics Unit, Carcharodons, Crisis, CZ Factory, East Coast Defiance, Expendables, Kaos, Kaos Theory, PBHQ and Titans. The organiser explicitly corrected the original draw’s Fatality entry to PBHQ.[2]
King’s Birthday
[edit]The revised King’s Birthday draw named Ballistics Unit, Crisis, Deadbox Allstars, East Coast Defiance, Expendables, Kaos Theory, PBHQ, Sydney Swat and Titans, alongside a bye.[3]
Labour weekend
[edit]The organiser published the following pools on 22 October:[5]
| Pool A | Pool B |
|---|---|
| Expendables | Ballistics Unit |
| Manawatu Titans | East Coast Defiance |
| Kaos Theory | PBHQ |
| Sharks | Crisis |
| CZ Factory | Chaos |
| Deadbox Allstars | Scratch team |
| Phoenix Tahiti | Absolute Kaos |
The pool notice stated that Black Flag had withdrawn and been replaced by a scratch team assembled from other teams. The replacement could score points but was ineligible for the finals. Black Flag’s name remained on the final draw published on 23 October.[5][6]
The top two teams in each pool were scheduled to contest the Cup finals, with third and fourth in each pool contesting the Plate.[5]
