From WikiPaintball

Siren (stylised as SIREN) is a Malaysian all-female competitive paintball team based in Selangor. The team competed in the Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit (MPOC), Paintball Asia League Series (PALS), Singapore Paintball Series and international tournaments in Thailand.[1][2]

Siren was active by 2013 and won the RaceTo-2 division at the 2017 World Paintball Championship in Thailand. The team also entered the inaugural Asia Girls Paintball International Championship in Singapore in 2017.[1]

History

[edit]

Early competition (2013)

[edit]

Siren was registered with PBLeagues on 7 January 2013, listing Selangor, Malaysia, as its home location.[1]

The team was composed of Malaysian female players, several of whom had been competing in paintball tournaments since 2006.

Siren's official website described its aim of representing Malaysian women in domestic and international tournament paintball.[2]

The team's first documented PBLeagues appearance was at the second round of the 2013 Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit, held on 6–7 April. Competing in Division 2 X-Ball, Siren finished eighth among eight teams.[1]

In May, Siren competed at the Malaysian Open, which also served as the third round of MPOC and an event of the Paintball Asia League Series.

The team finished 11th among 14 Division 2 competitors.

In a contemporary tournament report, Siren stated that it had defeated the French team Offensive during the preliminary stage and regarded the event as an improvement in its competitive performance.[3]

Singapore Paintball Series (2013)

[edit]

Siren made its first appearance in the Singapore Paintball Series at the second round of the 2013 championship, held on 7–8 September at Red Dynasty Paintball Park.

The tournament attracted 33 teams from Singapore and overseas, including competitors from Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand.

Contemporary reporting specifically identified Siren as an all-female Malaysian team.

Siren competed in the Open X-Ball division, finishing eighth among eight teams.[1][4]

International competition (2017–2018)

[edit]

Siren entered the inaugural Asia Girls Paintball International Championship (AGPIC), held in Singapore on 29–30 July 2017.

The tournament was established to provide a dedicated international competition for female players from Asia and other regions.[1][5]

In December 2017, Siren competed at the World Paintball Championship in Thailand.

The event was held at Pattana Golf Club & Resort in Chonburi from 1 to 3 December.

Siren won the WPC RaceTo-2 division, finishing first among 12 teams. The division used a six-minute X-Ball match format with a race-to-two scoring system.[1][6]

The team subsequently registered for the 2018 World Paintball Championship in Thailand, although the available tournament records do not establish a final placing.[1]
