The association was identified in a proposed interim committee prepared by Paul WY Lam and submitted to Malaysia's Sports Commissioner's Office on 25 February 2010. Its nominated representative was Hasnu Rizal Zakaria.[1]

History
[edit]Background
[edit]During the 2000s, Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding Klang Valley developed into important centres of recreational and competitive paintball in Malaysia.
The region hosted commercial paintball facilities, equipment retailers and tournament activities associated with competitions such as the Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit, Malaysian National Paintball League and Paintball Asia League Series.
The Kuala Lumpur Paintball Association was among the organisations identified during efforts to establish a national representative body for the sport in 2010.[1]
The circumstances of the association's establishment, including its original founders and date of formation, have not yet been documented.
Malaysian Paintball Federation formation initiative
[edit]In February 2010, Malaysian paintball organisers initiated a formal process to establish the Malaysian Paintball Federation.
The proposed federation was intended to bring together state associations, clubs, tournament organisers, referees, commercial field operators and equipment suppliers.
Its proposed objectives included:
- Recognition of paintball as an organised sport
- Clarification of the legal classification of paintball markers
- Development of licensing arrangements for paintball facilities
- Establishment of national safety guidelines
- Support for grassroots participation and development programmes
A public hearing concerning the federation's formation was scheduled for 25 February 2010 at the National Sports Institute in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.[1]
The hearing was associated with Malaysia's Sports Commissioner's Office.
Proposed representation
[edit]Before the public hearing, Paul WY Lam prepared a proposed interim committee representing different sectors of the Malaysian paintball community.
The proposal included representatives of commercial operators, tournament promoters, referees and state paintball associations.
The Kuala Lumpur Paintball Association was listed among the proposed state association representatives.
Its nominated representative was Hasnu Rizal Zakaria.[1]
The committee proposal was submitted to the Sports Commissioner's Office on 25 February 2010 and subsequently published by Allan Phang.
The published list expressly stated that the proposed appointments were subject to the acceptance of the individuals invited.
Consequently, Hasnu Rizal Zakaria's inclusion establishes that he was nominated to represent the Kuala Lumpur Paintball Association, but does not establish that he accepted the appointment or subsequently served on the federation's committee.
Provisional committee announcement
[edit]Following the public hearing, the federation organisers published the membership of a newly selected provisional steering committee on 27 February 2010.[1]
The committee included representatives from several Malaysian paintball clubs and regional associations.
However, Hasnu Rizal Zakaria was not named among the selected officeholders or additional committee members.
The Kuala Lumpur Paintball Association was also not separately identified in the final published committee list.
The available evidence therefore establishes the association's inclusion in the original federation proposal, but not its representation on the subsequently announced provisional committee.
Role in Malaysian paintball
[edit]Kuala Lumpur representation
[edit]The Kuala Lumpur Paintball Association was identified as a representative organisation for Kuala Lumpur in the February 2010 federation proposal.
The proposed federation structure envisaged a national committee incorporating representatives of state paintball associations and the commercial paintball industry.[1]
The inclusion of the Kuala Lumpur Paintball Association demonstrates that the federation organisers sought representation from the capital's paintball community.
However, no independently verified membership register, constitution or list of affiliated clubs has yet been located.
It is therefore not possible to establish the association's precise membership or organisational structure.
Relationship with the Malaysian Paintball Federation
[edit]The association's documented connection with the Malaysian Paintball Federation was its inclusion in the proposed interim committee submitted during the February 2010 formation process.
The federation organisers sought to establish a national representative body capable of addressing sporting recognition, equipment regulation, safety and grassroots development.
The Kuala Lumpur Paintball Association was one of several regional organisations included in the original proposal.[1]
The available sources do not establish whether it subsequently became a formally registered member of the federation.
Relationship with other organisations
[edit]The Kuala Lumpur Paintball Association was listed separately from the Selangor Paintball Association in the original 2010 federation proposal.
The Selangor association's nominated representative was Nicholas Wong Yew Khid, while the Kuala Lumpur association's nominated representative was Hasnu Rizal Zakaria.[1]
The two organisations should therefore be treated as distinct historical entities.
No formal organisational relationship between them has yet been established.
Likewise, the association should not be confused with commercial paintball facilities, tournament teams or league operators based in Kuala Lumpur.
Documented representatives
[edit]| Name | Documented role | Year | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hasnu Rizal Zakaria | Proposed representative in the Malaysian Paintball Federation interim committee | 2010 | Federation formation records [1] |
Hasnu Rizal Zakaria's formal position within the Kuala Lumpur Paintball Association has not been established.
The surviving source does not identify him as president, secretary or founder.
Later history
[edit]The association's activities following the February 2010 federation formation initiative have not yet been independently documented.
Its participation in later tournaments, development programmes, regulatory discussions or other sporting activities remains unverified.
The association's current registration and operating status are also unknown.
The absence of subsequent records does not establish that the association was dissolved.
Historical significance
[edit]The Kuala Lumpur Paintball Association forms part of the documented history of efforts to establish national paintball governance in Malaysia.
Its inclusion in the February 2010 federation proposal demonstrates that organisers sought representation from Kuala Lumpur alongside state paintball associations and commercial participants in the sport.
Although the association's wider organisational history remains incompletely documented, the original committee proposal provides evidence of its recognition within the Malaysian paintball community at that time.
The distinction between its proposed participation and the subsequently selected federation committee is important when reconstructing the history of national paintball administration in Malaysia.
