BKi Paintball

From WikiPaintball

BKi Paintball, also known as the BKi School of Paintball, is an American online paintball training platform established by professional players Grayson Goff and Scott Kemp. Dating to approximately 2014, the organisation provides instructional videos, coaching programmes and training resources for competitive paintball players and teams.[1][2]

Originally associated with the name Best Kids In, BKi subsequently adopted Best Knowledge in Paintball. Its instructional staff, known as BKi Professors, includes professional players and coaches from major tournament teams.[2]

History

[edit]

Establishment

[edit]

BKi Paintball was developed by Grayson Goff of San Antonio X-Factor and Scott Kemp, a professional player associated with San Diego Dynasty.

The organisation was established around 2014, with its official website marking ten years of BKi in 2024.[1]

The original concept was to make professional-level coaching accessible to players who could not regularly attend in-person clinics.

Goff developed instructional material covering tournament fundamentals, while Kemp contributed training programmes focused on fitness and conditioning.[2][3]

By 2016, BKi had developed an online library of videos and written training materials.

On 17 July 2016, professional player Ryan Greenspan announced that he had joined the platform, working with Goff and Kemp to expand its instructional content.[4]

Expansion

[edit]

BKi subsequently expanded its instructional staff to include additional professional players and coaches.

Rusty Glaze, a former professional player and coach of San Diego Dynasty, became involved in developing the platform's coaching material.

In an announcement published through BKi, Glaze identified an expanded instructional team including Greenspan, Marcello Margott, Nick Leival, Nick Slowiak and Greg Siewers.[3]

The platform developed a broader collection of instructional courses covering individual technique, team strategy, tournament preparation and coaching.

Online training

[edit]

BKi provides video lessons, written instructional material and training programmes through its website.

Subjects include:

  • Snapshooting and gunfighting.
  • Shooting while moving.
  • Breakout shooting and laning.
  • Individual and team drills.
  • Tournament field layouts and strategies.
  • Player communication and decision-making.
  • Fitness, conditioning and agility.
  • Coaching and tournament preparation.

The platform offers subscription access to its instructional library, alongside selected free and individually purchased courses.[1]

Its field-breakdown programmes examine tournament layouts, including those used by the National Xball League (NXL), and provide tactical guidance for teams preparing to compete.

The website has also offered specialist coaching material through its Coaches Corner and masterclass programmes.[1][3]

In-person training

[edit]

Alongside its online courses, BKi has organised residential training camps and other in-person coaching activities.

In 2018, the organisation held a professional paintball summer camp near Boston, Massachusetts.

A contemporary account by Marcello Margott, published on 3 October 2018, described a programme attended by 40 participants and eight professional coaches.

The camp combined individual skills training, team drills and instruction on preparation for competitive tournament play.[5]

BKi continued organising summer camps in subsequent years.

Its 2023 programme was held at Boston Paintball in Maynard, Massachusetts, from 26 to 30 July, with instructors including Greenspan, Tyler Harmon, Nick Leival, Nick Slowiak and Kyle Spicka.[6]

The organisation has also developed an affiliate field programme intended to connect its online training resources with coached practice sessions at participating paintball venues.[7]

Historical paintball videos

[edit]

BKi Paintball also hosts a collection of historical tournament paintball films produced by DerDer Productions.

The collection, presented as DerDer Productions Classic Paintball Videos, includes:
