Production and release

[edit]

Malevolent was produced by DerDer Productions following the 2010 PSP tournament season.

The official promotional trailer was published on 16 October 2011. On 22 October 2011, PaintballBrunei reported that the film was being prepared for digital release on 29 October 2011.[2][4]

The film was subsequently distributed on DVD and Blu-ray, with an advertised running time of approximately one hour.[1][5]

The Blu-ray edition was marketed by Australian retailer Paintballshop.com as the first paintball Blu-ray release. This was a contemporary marketing claim rather than an independently established industry record.[5]

The original retail description identifies four sponsors associated with the production:

  • Paintball Assassin
  • Killer Paintballs
  • Badlands Paintball
  • RAZA

The film was also offered as a high-definition digital file of approximately 1.39 GB.[1]

Availability

[edit]

Malevolent is included in the DerDer classic paintball video collection hosted by BKi Paintball. The collection makes several historical DerDer films available to viewers.[6]

A copy of Malevolent was also uploaded to YouTube in September 2015 and linked in the German paintball forum PBHub.[3]
