Professional participation and layout
[edit]Thirteen teams entered the professional division. Unlike the 2021 NXL Golden State Open, whose highest category was Open X-Ball, the 2022 event used a professional classification.[1]
The event used a blind field layout. Contemporary NXL coverage described the Open events and their blind layouts as an additional element of the 2022 professional season. Professional matches were broadcast through GoSports.com.[4]

Manawatu Titans won the semi-professional final against PaintballFIT.com 4–3. Vegas Brawlers defeated KC Missouri Allstars 6–1 in Division 2 X-Ball.[3]
Sac DMG won Division 3 X-Ball with a 4–0 final victory against New Cartel, while DMG GANG defeated Altitude Sickness 4–3 to win Division 4 X-Ball.[3]
