2015 NXL World Cup
The 2015 NXL World Cup was a National Xball League (NXL) paintball tournament held from 15 to 18 October 2015 in Kissimmee, Florida, United States. It concluded the revived league's three-event national season. San Diego Dynasty won the professional tournament, defeating Houston Heat 4–3 in the final, while Edmonton Impact finished as professional season champions.[1][2][3]
Dates and venue
[edit]The tournament took place at an outdoor grass venue at 6000 West Osceola Parkway, Kissimmee. The accompanying trade show opened on 14 October, with competition beginning on 15 October. This distinction accounts for contemporary announcements describing the wider event as taking place from 14 to 18 October.[1][4]
The venue was situated between Walt Disney World Resort and Kissimmee's Old Town. General admission and parking were advertised as free, with separate tickets available for the professional grandstands and VIP area.[4]
Competition formats
[edit]The event combined timed X-Ball matches with traditional five-player, ten-player and pump competitions. The official registration record lists 311 entries across its competition groups.[1]
Professional, Semi-Pro and Division 2–4 X-Ball were listed with 16-minute game times. A separate eight-team X500 competition took place on Thursday, 15 October, with a 15-minute game time.[1]
Traditional five-player competition was held in Divisions 3, 4 and 5, alongside Open Pump and Masters five-player competitions. Open ten-player competition was also held. College Class A X-Ball and Division 2 five-player competition were listed for registration but attracted no entries and have no published results.[1]
Professional competition
[edit]San Diego Dynasty defeated Houston Heat 4–3 in the professional final. Chicago Aftershock finished third and ac Dallas fourth.[2][5]
Dynasty also won the separate X500 competition, ahead of San Antonio X-Factor and Los Angeles Infamous. This result was separate from the principal professional tournament.[5]

Season championships
[edit]World Cup concluded the national season, following the 2015 NXL Great Lakes Open and 2015 NXL Virginia Beach Open. Event victories and season championships were separate honours.[3]
Edmonton Impact finished sixth at World Cup but retained first place in the professional season standings with 540 points. Dynasty's World Cup victory brought its season total to 494, one point ahead of San Antonio X-Factor.[3]
The published final standings list the following division leaders:[3]
| Division | Season leader | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Professional X-Ball | Edmonton Impact | 540.00 |
| Semi-Pro X-Ball | Seattle Uprising | 295.26 |
| Division 2 X-Ball | Brooklyn Bears | 271.15 |
| Division 3 X-Ball | DZ AllStars | 254.66 |
| Division 4 X-Ball | DBS Supersonics | 284.88 |

| Division 5 five-player | weR1 | 100.00 |
| Open five-player, corresponding to the pump competition | The Loony Toons | 140.00 |
Division 5 five-player appeared only at World Cup in the published season standings; weR1's total therefore came from that event alone. The standings label the pump category as Open 5-Man.[3]
Distinction from the cancelled PSP World Cup
[edit]The 2015 PSP World Cup was a separate, cancelled tournament announced by Paintball Sports Promotions for the same competition dates at Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida.[6]
Contemporary reporting in May 2015 described PSP's season as apparently suspended and announced a separate NXL calendar. The NXL World Cup subsequently took place at the Kissimmee venue. Its results should not be attributed to the cancelled PSP tournament at Fantasy of Flight.[1][7]
