2013 NPPL Northeast Open
The 2013 NPPL Northeast Open was a National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) tournament held from 7–9 June 2013 at Outdoor Xtreme Chesapeake City (OXCC) in Chesapeake City, Maryland, United States. It was the second major tournament on the league's revised 2013 schedule.[1][2]
Camp Pendleton Raiders won the professional competition, ahead of New England Avalanche, San Antonio X-Factor and Portland Uprising.[3]
Organisation and venue
[edit]In April 2013, the NPPL announced that Paintball Promotions Inc. would operate its national tournaments under an exclusive licensing agreement. The revised schedule placed the Northeast Open at OXCC on 7–9 June, replacing the previously announced June tournament in Tampa Bay.[1]
Contemporary on-site reporting confirms that competition took place at OXCC. The event used two playing fields.[2][4]
Competition
[edit]Heavy rain affected play on Friday, 7 June. The final three match sets scheduled that afternoon were postponed until Saturday morning. An on-site report described mud and standing water around the starting areas and backfields.[2]
Twelve professional teams attended. Vancouver Vendetta, Arsenal Crush and LA Paintball Gateway were absent.[2]
X-Factor defeated Portland Uprising 5–0 in the third-place match. X-Factor's contemporary team account also records a semi-final defeat by New England Avalanche.[4]
Results
