The 2008 CPPS comprised documented launch activity and early events for the Central Premier Paintball Series, organised by Balls Out Promotions. Contemporary records identify an October website launch, a November trial tournament and a December Funball event, preceding the numbered 2009 series.[1][2][3][4]

Development

[edit]

The CPPS website was announced on 7 October 2008. In the discussion the following day, the website developer explained that the site had not yet hosted play and that existing photographs would be replaced after its opening events. This documents launch preparations rather than an exact organisational founding date.[1]

Balls Out Promotions held a trial tournament on 2 November. Rich Harris's same-day report confirmed X Ball and five-man play and invited feedback to help prepare the following year's series. Participants identified mud around the fields and staging areas as a problem, while Harris subsequently acknowledged the feedback.[2]

A further event took place on 7 December. The organiser described it as a relaxed Funball tournament, advertised open five-man and limited-paint three-man, and published a six-team classification after play.[3][6]

Documented events

[edit]
Event Date Available result evidence
CPPS trial event 2 November 2008 Evil Saints reported an unbeaten five-man victory; a Dave's Truck participant reported third. A complete official results table has not been recovered.[2][5]
CPPS Funball event 7 December 2008 Organiser's classification: MK Storm, Lincoln Hurricanes, Phoenix 5, Troggs, Mean Machine and Mean Machine OAP.[6]

These records do not establish a numbered 2008 league season or final championship standings.

Plans for 2009

[edit]

On 12 December 2008, Harris published plans for six numbered rounds in 2009, with separate pre-season and cup events. The proposed league programme included M7 X Ball, M5 five-man and a limited-paint three-man format.[4]

Coverage

[edit]

Contemporary forum posts document photography at the early events. Following the December tournament, participant Bolter reported that games had been filmed and uploaded to YouTube; a securely identified surviving video link has not been recovered.[7]
