2008 CPPS Trial Event (2 November)
The 2008 CPPS Trial Event (2 November) was a trial tournament organised by Balls Out Promotions on 2 November 2008 ahead of the following year's Central Premier Paintball Series. The organiser's same-day report confirms X Ball and five-man competitions.[1][2]
Organisation and formats
[edit]Rich Harris published a provisional team list on 21 October 2008. The advertised formats included X Ball light and five-man under contemporary Millennium rules, with 12 balls per second ramping. A limited-paint three-man format was also proposed, but its operation at the event has not been confirmed.[1]
The five-man plan provided seven preliminary games followed by playoffs. The provisional entry list should not be treated as a confirmed attendance list: contemporary reports describe teams failing to attend and adjustments to the X Ball programme.[1][2][4]
Available results
[edit]A complete official results table has not been recovered. In a same-day team report, Twizz ECI stated that Evil Saints won five-man and finished unbeaten. Another participant reported third place while describing playing for Dave's Truck.[3][5]

Contemporary accounts document So Manc, No Limit/Showtime and Mean Machine in X Ball. A Showtime representative described a captains' meeting at which the format and game times were adjusted following other teams' non-attendance. Complete X Ball placings and scores have not been verified.[4]
Feedback
[edit]Harris requested feedback to help prepare the following year's series. Participants praised the playing fields and organisation while repeatedly identifying mud around the fields and staging areas as a problem. Harris subsequently confirmed that the organisers were considering alterations.[2][6]
