2001 NPPL Atlantic City Open
The 2001 NPPL Atlantic City Open, also billed as the Gambler's Open, was the fourth tournament of the 2001 National Professional Paintball League season. Held at Atlantic City Racetrack in Mays Landing, New Jersey, in August 2001, it was produced by Paintball Sports Promotions.[1]
Aftershock won professional ten-man, Team Strange won Amateur A, Nemesis won Amateur B and High Velocity won five-man.[2][3][4]
Venue and organisation
[edit]Competition used grassy areas behind the racetrack stables, with Sup'Air and Ultimate Airball fields. PSP introduced an air-fill system using four compressors and ten player-operated fill stations.[1]
Sixteen teams entered five-man competition. Avalanche, Dynasty, Tidewater and Warped Kids refereed ten-man; Thunderstruck and additional referees from Centerflag officiated five-man.[1]
League developments
[edit]The NPPL steering committee elected Chuck Hendsch president following Tom Cole's resignation.[1]
New procedures included chronograph checks before games and spot checks during play. Eliminated players used screened dead boxes and placed their markers in separate holding areas.[1]
