2001 NPPL Chicago Open
The 2001 NPPL Chicago Open was the third tournament of the 2001 National Professional Paintball League season, held at The Badlandz in Crete, Illinois, from 20 to 24 June 2001. It included five-man and ten-man competition.[1]
All Americans won professional ten-man, Team Strange won Amateur A ten-man and Exile won Amateur B ten-man. Shocktech Factory Team and Sharpshooters-Black won the completed five-man divisions.[2][3][4]
Venue and organisation
[edit]The venue added a third Hyperball field and renewed its spectator netting. Five-man competition began on Wednesday, followed by ten-man preliminaries on Friday.[1]
Barrel bags were required as barrel-blocking devices away from the playing fields. Production of league identification cards continued, with full enforcement for ten-man players planned for the tournament's final day.[1]
Five-man competition
[edit]Heavy rain affected the second day. Professional teams voted to cancel their remaining games because of concerns about injuries in the muddy conditions and agreed to divide the prize pool. No professional finishing order was declared.[1]
