AJ (New Zealand Paintball Team)
AJ was a New Zealand competitive paintball team documented in the 2007 Super 5s series. The team finished second at the June 2007 round with 814 points.[1]
The contemporary records use the forms Team AJ and AJ. Contributor identification establishes that the team was named after Auckland paintball player Aaron Jay, whose initials provided the team name.

[edit]Team AJ competed in the fourth round of the 2007 Super 5s series, held on 24 June.[1]

A later roster compilation used the shortened heading `AJ`. No player names were listed beneath that heading, so the source does not provide a recoverable tournament roster.[1]
No additional confirmed result has been recovered for the team. The June placing is therefore its only presently verified tournament result.
Name and identity
[edit]The source forms `Team AJ`, `AJ` and `A.J.` refer to the same New Zealand team. The punctuation and presence of the word `Team` are treated as styling variants rather than separate entries.
The team was named after veteran Auckland player Aaron Jay, commonly identified as AJ. Contributor recollection associates Jay with Actions Paintball over an extended period, but a contemporary source establishing the dates or nature of that association has not been recovered.
The initials should not be expanded to another phrase or treated as an abbreviation for an organisation.
Aaron Jay
[edit]Aaron Jay is documented by a New Zealand PBLeagues player profile.[2] The profile and Kaos Theory team records associate him with Kaos Theory during its later competition history.[2][3]
This provides evidence of Jay's later playing association with Kaos Theory. It does not establish that AJ and Kaos Theory were the same team, that one succeeded the other or that other AJ players transferred with him.
Jay's role within the 2007 AJ tournament entry has not been established by the surviving results or roster post. Although the team was named after him, the available source does not provide a complete playing line-up or identify its captain.
