2001 Wellington Cup
2001 Wellington Cup was a five-player paintball tournament held at Thunderball Adventure Games in August 2001. Ten teams from around the North Island competed in the second running of the event. House Steiner won with 654 points, ahead of Saints and Tag n' Release.[1][2]
Tournament
[edit]The tournament used a centre-flag format on Thunderball's tyre field. Games followed New Zealand Tournament Paintball rules, with a scoring amendment introduced after the Rotorua Volcanic tournament that awarded points for players surviving at the end of a game. Achieving the maximum score required eliminating the opposing team without losing a player.[1]
Phoenix players helped referee the event.[2]
Results
[edit]House Steiner recovered from a total of −16 points after its first two games to win the tournament. The final margin was sixteen points over Saints, with Tag n' Release a further ten points behind. The outcome remained undecided until the last game.[1]
Tag and Training defeated both Tag n' Release and Saints in individual games.[1]
