2009 Queen's Birthday Tournament (Palmerston North)
The 2009 Queen's Birthday Tournament was a planned paintball competition advertised for Queen's Birthday weekend in 2009 at Aces High Paintball, Flygers Line, Palmerston North, New Zealand. The proposed tournament featured two divisions with different paint allowances.[1]
Organisation and format
The tournament was announced on 9 November 2008. The announcement, updated on 30 March 2009, specified New Zealand NPPL rules, field paint only and the following divisional formats:[1]
| Division | Advertised paint allowance |
|---|---|
| Division 1 | Unlimited paint |
| Division 2 | Paint in players' loaders plus 12 additional pods per team per game |
The organisers presented the limited-paint option as a way to reduce participation costs. The proposal prompted discussion about affordability, attracting new teams and retaining unlimited-paint competition.[1][2]
Entry arrangements
The advertised fees and facilities applied to both divisions.[1]

|---|---|
| Team entry paid before 1 May 2009 | NZ$450 |
| Team entry paid from 1 May 2009 | NZ$550 |
| Entry conditions | Non-refundable |
| Paint | NZ$75 per case, with no minimum purchase |
| Paint policy | Field paint only |

Prospective participation
Flashpoint stated its intention to enter, while possible participation by Blindboyz was also discussed. Another contributor expressed interest in entering a Wellington team. These were pre-event statements, rather than a confirmed attendance list.[1]
