2009 Queen's Birthday Tournament (Palmerston North)

From WikiPaintball

The 2009 Queen's Birthday Tournament was a paintball competition held on 30–31 May 2009 at Aces High Paintball, Flygers Line, Palmerston North, New Zealand. Eleven teams competed across two divisions. SCK Factory won Division 1 and Muppets won Division 2.[1][3]

Organisation and format

[edit]

The tournament was announced on 9 November 2008. The announcement, updated on 30 March 2009, specified New Zealand NPPL rules, field paint only and the following divisional formats:[1]

Division Advertised paint allowance
Division 1 Unlimited paint
Division 2 Paint in players' loaders plus 12 additional pods per team per game

The organisers presented the limited-paint option as a way to reduce participation costs. The proposal prompted discussion about affordability, attracting new teams and retaining unlimited-paint competition.[1][2]

In their post-event report, the organisers credited Go Deep Scuba with supplying compressed air and Paintball Direct with supplying paint, a generator and tents.[3]
