Revision as of 06:30, 28 October 2026

Impact, also identified contemporaneously as Wellington Impact, was a New Zealand competitive paintball team documented in 2005. The team competed at the 2005 Auckland Queen’s Birthday Superball and recorded results in two three-player tournaments during July.[1][2][3][4]

Impact was distinct from the Hamilton-based Final Impact team and from overseas paintball teams using the Impact name.

Tournament history

Auckland Queen’s Birthday Superball

Impact competed at the 2005 Auckland Queen’s Birthday Superball at Kumeu Showgrounds on 4–5 June 2005.[1]

A contemporary account by a team member using the name EZRepete states that he played for Impact and describes the tournament as the team's second event.[1] This establishes that Impact competed at the tournament and had entered at least one earlier event, but it does not identify that first event.

The recovered discussion does not provide Impact's final placing or a complete roster. A pre-event discussion had listed Impact among the teams intending to attend; the later participant account provides stronger evidence that the team actually competed.[1][5]

3x Series

On 10 July 2005, Impact competed in the opening round of the 3x Series. Twelve teams played 66 games.[2]

Impact recorded 603 points and finished fifth.[2]

Sire Challenge Cup

On 24 July 2005, Impact competed in the opening round of the Sire Challenge Cup at TAG Pomare.[3]

The team recorded 405 points and finished sixth among eleven entries.[3]

Team identity

The three confirmed Impact appearances from June and July 2005 are treated as the same Wellington team. This identification is based on their close chronology, the explicit Wellington Impact description and participant clarification.

Raphael “RaphX” Lemgruber Cardoso identified himself in a contemporary forum post as playing seven-player paintball for Wellington Impact.[4]

A separate rendering of his middle surname in the same discussion used Lermgruber. This article retains Lemgruber, the spelling used in his own signature, while preserving the source discrepancy rather than silently treating both spellings as independently verified.

The participant using the name EZRepete also identified himself as an Impact player at the 2005 Auckland tournament.[1] The recovered source does not establish his full name.

No evidence has been recovered connecting Wellington Impact with the Hamilton team Final Impact. Results recorded for Final Impact therefore remain separate.

Likewise, overseas teams using the name Impact are unrelated unless a source explicitly establishes a connection.
