2007 Paintball Asia League Series
The 2007 Paintball Asia League Series was a season of the international Paintball Asia League Series (PALS). Documented competitions included the Independence Cup in Kuala Lumpur and the season-ending Paintball World Cup Asia in Petaling Jaya. Datis, Global Gutz and Zealous were reported as the overall champions of Divisions 1, 2 and 3 respectively.[1][2]
Documented events
[edit]| Dates | Event | Location |
|---|---|---|
| 25–26 August 2007 | 2007 Independence Cup | Xtion Paintball Park, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia |
| 7–9 December 2007 | 2007 Paintball World Cup Asia | Dataran PJ, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia |
Dates and venues are recorded in contemporary event announcements.[1][3]
The Independence Cup was advertised as the second PALS leg.[1] A June announcement referred to plans for four legs, but the available records do not establish a complete final calendar.[4]
Taiwan event
[edit]In an interview published in June 2009, Patrick Tan recalled that Demonz Red had assembled to compete at a PALS event in Taiwan in 2007.[5]
Relocated Thailand event
[edit]The 2007 International Thailand Paintball Championship was originally announced for 24–26 August. A subsequent PALS notice stated that the event would move to Kuala Lumpur while retaining those dates. The notice attributed the relocation to anticipated security concerns surrounding Thailand's political situation and the withdrawal of a government-agency sponsor.[4]
The Independence Cup was subsequently advertised at Xtion Paintball Park for competition on 25–26 August, with the captains' meeting on 24 August.[1]
Independence Cup
[edit]The Independence Cup used five-player capture-the-flag matches lasting five minutes, with two reserves permitted per team. Divisions 1 and 2 allowed ramping capped at 15 balls per second; Division 3 used capped semi-automatic firing.[1]
Datis defeated Reaper in a three-game final to win Division 1. Global Pinoy won Division 2 and Zealous won Division 3.[6][7]
