X-Fighter$ Fracture (New Zealand Paintball Team)

From WikiPaintball

X-Fighter$ Fracture was a New Zealand competitive paintball team that won the 2013 New Zealand Paintball Players League (NZPPL) Super 5 Man Series championship. The team won the opening two Super 5 Man events and finished third at the season-ending Nationals.[1][2]

X-Fighter$ Fracture also won the 2013 NZPPL Race 2 Open Tournament in Auckland, ahead of Australia's Sydney SWAT and New Zealand team ADHD.[1]

The team's contemporary Facebook page described it as a New Zealand-based team competing in the NZPPL and Southern Series.[3]

History

[edit]

2013 NZPPL Super 5 Man Series

[edit]

X-Fighter$ Fracture competed in the three-round 2013 NZPPL Super 5 Man Series.

At 2013 NZPPL Super 5 Man Event 1, held at El Rancho Holiday Park in Waikanae on 9–10 March, the team won the Cup competition ahead of Tiger Blood and Wellington Vendetta.[1]

The original Event 1 results identify the winner as X-Fighter$. The NZPPL's combined series table identifies the corresponding entry as X-Fighter$ Fracture, establishing that the two published forms referred to the same team.[1]

The team won again at 2013 NZPPL Super 5 Man Event 2, held at Adrenalin Paintball Sports in Paraparaumu on 1–2 June. KC Damage finished second, followed by Arachnidz.[1]

Following the opening two events, X-Fighter$ Fracture led the published series standings with two victories.[1]

2013 NZPPL Race 2 Open Tournament

[edit]

X-Fighter$ Fracture won the 2013 NZPPL Race 2 Open Tournament, held at Blockhouse Bay Reserve in Auckland on 31 August–1 September.[1]

The seven-team tournament was recorded separately from the Super 5 Man Series in the NZPPL's official rankings. Sydney SWAT finished second and ADHD placed third.[1]

This was X-Fighter$ Fracture's third documented NZPPL tournament victory of 2013.

2013 NZPPL Nationals

[edit]

X-Fighter$ Fracture competed at the 2013 NZPPL Nationals, held at Asylum Paintball in Kingseat, Auckland, on 26–27 October.

The team finished third, behind tournament winner KC Damage and runner-up Wellington Vendetta.[2]

Its two earlier victories and third-place Nationals result gave X-Fighter$ the overall 2013 NZPPL Super 5 Man Series championship. The championship and final-event podium were confirmed in a Blacksheep Communications press release published on 16 March 2014.[2]

Documented players

[edit]
Player Documented involvement
Billy Jackson Talia Carlisle identified the Seatoun, Wellington player as a member of X-Fighter$ Fracture in an article published by The Wellingtonian on 7 August 2013.[4]

The newspaper report confirmed that Jackson's team had won the first two NZPPL tournaments of the season and described plans to compete at an Australian Super 7s event in Sydney.[4] It does not provide the team's complete roster.

Other competitions

[edit]

The team's contemporary Facebook description identified X-Fighter$ Fracture as competing in New Zealand's Southern Series.[3] Results from those appearances have not been established from the recovered records.

An entry named X-Fighter$ appears in the Australian Super 7s' 2013 professional rankings with 50 ranking points.[5] This is consistent with the contemporary report of the New Zealand team's planned Australian appearance, although the published standings do not provide a roster.[4][5]

The Australian records also contain earlier entries named X-Fighters and Sydney X-Fighters. The available sources do not establish continuity between those earlier Australian entries and the New Zealand-based X-Fighter$ Fracture team. Their results are therefore excluded from this article.

The complete X-Fighter$ Fracture roster, precise formation date and final operating date have not been independently established.
