Social Paintball

From WikiPaintball

Social Paintball is a paintball media and equipment business founded in 2009 by Israel Lagares. It began by publishing videos, news and editorial coverage before expanding into playing equipment, custom clothing and paintballs. The business also established the Social Paintball League, a regional tournament series launched in Florida in 2014.[1][2][3]

History

[edit]

Social Paintball initially operated as an independent paintball media outlet, producing videos and written coverage of the sport. Its subsequent expansion into equipment retained the Social Paintball name and introduced the slogan For the Player.[1]

The company's media activities included recruiting additional contributors. In July 2012, it announced the addition of Chris Loh of Skwirmn Media, followed by an announcement that Joel Pitra had signed for the 2013 season.[2][4]

Media coverage

[edit]

Social Paintball has published tournament reporting, team news, interviews and commentary on competitive paintball. Its coverage has included Paintball Sports Promotions events and developments affecting professional teams.[5][6]

Examples include reporting on Edmonton Impact's planned return to PSP competition at the 2012 World Cup and a December 2014 interview with Lane Wright discussing proposed PSP rule changes for the following season.[5][6]

Equipment and clothing

[edit]

Social Paintball's product range has included playing trousers, jerseys, gloves, pod harnesses and custom team clothing. Its named product lines include Grit, SMPL and Flex. The company has also marketed paintballs under the Grit, Honor and Loyalty names.[1]

Custom clothing is a substantial part of its catalogue, alongside apparel produced for individual paintball events. Its 2026 catalogue included event jerseys for Invasion of Normandy at Skirmish USA and events in the CPX Sports Legends series.[7]

Social Paintball League

[edit]

On 25 October 2014, Social Paintball announced the creation of the Social Paintball League (SPL), initially organised as a tournament series in Florida.[3]

The league's inaugural Gulf Coast Open took place on 9 November 2014 at Gator Paintball Extreme in Hudson. SPL subsequently organised events in Florida and Georgia, including three-player and five-player RaceTo competition.[8][9]
