Lane Wright

From WikiPaintball

Lane Wright is a competitive paintball player, tournament administrator and field operator. He served as a partner and chief operating officer of Paintball Sports Promotions (PSP), following earlier roles as the organisation's player liaison and operations manager. His playing career included All Americans, Image, Bad Company and Ground Zero.[1]

Playing career

[edit]

According to a biographical announcement published by the National Professional Paintball League in 2017, Wright began playing paintball in 1990. His teams included Bad Attitude, Team Xtreme, All Americans, Image, Bad Company and Ground Zero.[1]

Contemporary reporting documents his move from Image to Bad Company before the 2001 NPPL Chicago tournament. WARPIG reported that Bad Company defeated Ironmen and Lockout during the preliminary rounds before being eliminated in the semi-finals.[2]

Wright was subsequently listed on Ground Zero Black's professional roster for the 2002 season.[3]

Paintball Sports Promotions

[edit]

Wright served as PSP's player and team liaison from 2000 to 2003, operations manager from 2003 to 2007, and partner and chief operating officer from 2008 to 2015.[1]

His responsibilities included practical tournament organisation. During autumn 2005, Wright and Keely Watson investigated venues for PSP's expanded 2006 schedule, including attending a conference where cities presented their facilities to event organisers. The resulting calendar included a tournament in Round Rock, Texas.[4]

Wright also worked with regional tournament organisers. The Mid-South Xball League's account of its establishment identifies him as the PSP official who confirmed its affiliated-league status.[5]

As chief operating officer, he publicly discussed PSP's competition policies. In a December 2014 interview with Social Paintball, Wright explained the board's decisions concerning outside coaching and professional marker firing modes for the proposed 2015 season. He distinguished his own views from the board's collective decisions.[6]

Other industry roles

[edit]

Wright managed Paintball Atlanta from 1994 to 1996 and worked at Smart Parts from 1996 to 1998. His published career history also identifies him as an original partner and president of Paintball Central in the Carolinas, and as the owner and operator of Paintball Atlanta from 2014.[1]

In February 2017, an NPPL announcement named Wright as its chief operations officer.[1]
