Rangers (New Zealand Paintball Team)
Rangers was a New Zealand competitive paintball team associated with Christchurch and documented in South Island paintball records during the early 2000s. At the 2004 Invercargill Three-Man Tournament, Rangers entered two related squads, recorded in the results as Rangers and Rangers Templar.[1][3]
History
[edit]A contemporary New Zealand paintball website directory listed Rangers as a Christchurch team and linked to the team's website. The surviving directory does not provide a founding date, roster or tournament record.[1]
Rangers were expected to attend the 2001 Invercargill three-player tournament but did not compete. The contemporary report listed four participating teams and expressly stated that Rangers and a proposed Tippmann owners' team had not attended.[2]
Rangers competed at the 2004 Invercargill Three-Man Tournament, held at a Scout camp in Invercargill in late August. Eight teams contested the hopperball centre-flag event.[3]
The published preliminary table listed Rangers with 132 points and Rangers Templar with 41 points. The accompanying narrative referred to the entries as “Rangers 1 & 2”, establishing Rangers Templar as an associated Rangers squad at that tournament.[3]
Only Mojo and Hairy Beavers advanced to the recorded final. Although the preliminary table placed Rangers seventh and Rangers Templar eighth by points, the source did not publish final overall positions for the remaining teams.[3]
The available sources do not provide player names or establish whether the same roster represented Rangers throughout the documented period.
