Murder Inc (New Zealand Paintball Team)

From WikiPaintball

Murder Inc was a New Zealand tournament paintball team documented in competition from 2006 to 2008. It won the Professional division at the 2006 Big Boys Toys Paintball Tournament, finished fourth in the main competition at the 2007 Christchurch X-ball Tournament and won the Semi-Pro classification at the 2008 Wellington Easter Tournament.[1][2][5]

The team is distinct from unrelated overseas paintball teams using the Murder Inc name.

History

[edit]

2006 Big Boys Toys tournament

[edit]

Murder Inc competed at the 2006 Big Boys Toys Paintball Tournament, held at the Auckland Showgrounds on 11–12 November. The event used a five-player format and included New Zealand teams and the visiting Australian team Vagrant.[1]

The published Professional division standings placed Murder Inc first, ahead of Vagrant, Wellington Vendetta and Legion.[1]

2007 Christchurch X-ball tournament

[edit]

In September 2007, Murder Inc competed in the main division of the Christchurch X-ball tournament. It finished fourth behind Splinter, Legion and STK.[2]

In the post-event discussion, Conan and Jen wrote about continuing to practise with the team and preparing for the following Easter tournament. The discussion also referred to possible roster changes, but it does not provide a complete event roster.[2]

On 1 November, Conan advertised for players for Murder Inc's planned 2008 season. The proposed programme included Wellington at Easter, Nelson over Queen's Birthday, Auckland over Labour Weekend and five-player events in Wellington and Auckland. Conan reported on 8 November that the available places had been filled.[3] These plans do not establish participation at every listed event.

2008 season

[edit]

A February 2008 Council of Captains access list identified Jen and Conan as Murder Inc's representatives.[4]

Murder Inc competed at the 2008 Wellington Easter Tournament. It scored 664 preliminary points, placing fifth in the provisional table.[5] The final report retained Murder Inc in fifth place overall and identified it as the winner of the Semi-Pro classification, ahead of Blind Boyz.[5]

The team subsequently appeared on an expression-of-interest list for the 2008 Western Springs Open. The organiser's published results recorded Murder Inc as DNS, meaning that it did not start the tournament.[6][7] This is retained as an entry-status record rather than a tournament appearance.
