Major League Paintball Plus

From WikiPaintball

Major League Paintball Plus (MLPB+), also styled Major League Paintball +, is an online video streaming platform providing live broadcasts, recorded matches, documentaries and other content related to competitive paintball. It is the official streaming service associated with Major League Paintball (MLPB) and its National Xball League (NXL) tournaments.[1]

The platform is the successor to GoSports, which established its dedicated paintball streaming service in 2016. Major League Paintball identifies MLPB+ as the former GoSports service and describes it as its official broadcast partner and media rights holder.[1][2]

MLPB+ operates through its website and applications for mobile devices and connected televisions. Its catalogue includes professional tournament coverage dating back to 2015, alongside original programming and historical paintball films.[3][4]

History

[edit]

GoSports origins

[edit]

The platform developed from GoSports, which provided professional paintball broadcasting during the revival of the NXL in 2015.

On 20 January 2016, Paintball Media published an announcement introducing a dedicated GoSports streaming platform developed in partnership with the NXL and European Millennium Series.[2]

The proposed service combined live tournament broadcasting with archived matches and original video programming.

Its initial catalogue was intended to include recordings from the 2015 NXL and Millennium Series seasons, alongside live coverage of the 2016 tournament calendar.

The announcement also identified instructional programmes, documentaries and behind-the-scenes productions as part of the service's planned content.[2]

Major League Paintball branding

[edit]

The platform subsequently adopted the Major League Paintball Plus branding.

Major League Paintball's official website identifies MLPB+ as the successor name for GoSports, rather than a separate broadcasting organisation.[1]

The GoSports name has continued to appear in connection with the service's operation and distribution.

The Major League Paintball Plus application is published by GoSports LLC on Apple's App Store and by Go Sports Media LLC on Google Play.[4][5]

Tournament coverage

[edit]

The primary function of MLPB+ is to distribute professional paintball tournament broadcasts.

Its catalogue includes NXL professional matches, tournament finals and recordings from previous seasons.

Coverage is organised by season and event, allowing viewers to access individual matches and longer tournament broadcasts.

The official archive contains NXL seasons dating from 2015 onwards.[3]

In addition to professional competition, the service includes selected divisional tournament matches and other competitive paintball programming.[6]

Live broadcasts generally feature multiple camera angles, match commentary, electronic scoreboards and instant replays.

Commentators associated with the GoSports broadcasting operation include Matty Marshall and Rich Telford.[1]

Documentaries and original programming

[edit]

MLPB+ distributes documentary productions, interviews, podcasts and other paintball-related programmes.

Its catalogue includes original productions such as Road to a Championship, which examines professional teams, players and tournament campaigns.

The platform also carries historical paintball documentaries produced by independent filmmakers.

Examples available through its documentary catalogue include:

These films are offered through separate rental listings rather than necessarily being included in the standard streaming subscription.[7]

The platform also hosts interviews and discussion programmes featuring professional players, coaches and paintball industry representatives.

Its podcast archive includes interviews presented by Matty Marshall, while additional programming documents team preparation, practice sessions and tournament competition.[8]

Distribution and access

[edit]

MLPB+ is distributed through its official website and applications for supported mobile and television devices.

The service is available through web browsers, Apple devices, Android devices and selected connected television platforms.[4][5][9]

Its content is distributed through a combination of free viewing, paid subscriptions and individual film rentals.

The free catalogue includes selected professional tournament matches, interviews, highlights and other programming.

Subscription access provides additional tournament broadcasts and premium content.

The availability of individual programmes depends on the access arrangements associated with each title.[7][9]

Relationship with Major League Paintball

[edit]

Major League Paintball operates the NXL and related competitive paintball organisations.

MLPB+ provides a dedicated media distribution platform for the organisation's tournament coverage.

The official Major League Paintball website identifies MLPB+ as its broadcast partner and rights holder.

Major League Paintball also distributes free video content through its official YouTube channel, which operates alongside the MLPB+ streaming service.[1]
