Infinite Tournament Paintball

From WikiPaintball

Infinite Tournament Paintball, also styled Infinite: Tournament Paintball, is a paintball video game developed and published by FiveTwo Games for Windows computers. First released on Steam on 3 August 2020, it focuses on modern tournament paintball, with X-Ball gameplay, online multiplayer and computer-controlled opponents.[1]

Development

[edit]

FiveTwo Games, formerly known as FiveTwo Studios, formed in early 2020 during development of the game's first version. The developer describes the project as having begun as a personal interest and identifies a 2023 re-release as an important stage in its development.[2]

FiveTwo Games has emphasised community feedback in its development process, gathering suggestions through Discord and social media. Its stated approach is to continue adding features, equipment and maps through updates.[3]

Gameplay

[edit]

The game presents tournament paintball from a first-person perspective. Its controls include switching the paintball marker between hands, snapshooting, sliding and diving into cover.[1]

The developer's published description specifies X-Ball gameplay and marker ramping at 10.5 balls per second. Players can compete online or use an exhibition mode against computer-controlled players.[1]

Fields and equipment

[edit]

Infinite includes field layouts that the developer describes as reproductions at the same scale as their real-world counterparts. These layouts provide the bunkers and shooting lanes around which matches are played.[1]

The game also incorporates representations of real paintball equipment through cooperation with equipment companies. Additional gear and gameplay content have been included in the developer's ongoing update plans.[1][3]

Community

[edit]

FiveTwo Games describes player feedback as a substantial influence on the project. Its community channels are used to discuss development, share suggestions and find other players.[3]

The game's focus on tournament play places it alongside other paintball titles such as Digital Paintball and the Greg Hastings series, while concentrating on contemporary X-Ball mechanics.[1]
