DaBayBoyz (New Zealand Paintball Team)
DaBayBoyz was a New Zealand tournament paintball team from the Hawke’s Bay region. Contemporary records document the team competing between 1997 and 2001.
The names The Bay Boyz, Bay Boyz, Bay Boys and Da Bay Boyz are spelling variants of the same team.
History
[edit]1997
[edit]The earliest identified contemporary record of the team is the 1997 New Zealand Paintball Nationals, held at Actions Paintball Sports Arena in Te Atatū, Auckland, on 25–26 October 1997.[1] The tournament report introduced the visiting Hawke’s Bay entry as The Bay Boyz and used Bay Boyz in its results.
The team competed in Division Two of the five-player, centre-flag tournament. It scored 74 points during the first day and finished the event eleventh overall and seventh in Division Two with 210 points.[1]
The 1997 Valhalla National Rankings used the spelling DaBayBoyz. The team was ranked eleventh with a score of 19.[2]
2000
[edit]DaBayBoyz appeared in the 2000 Valhalla National Rankings, placing twenty-seventh with a ranking score of 43.[3] The ranking establishes documented competitive activity during the season but does not identify a complete roster or every tournament contributing to the score.
2001
[edit]The team competed at the Hawke’s Bay Triples during the 2001 three-player season. Valhalla credited DaBayBoyz with 46.4 ranking points from that event, placing it sixteenth in the published national three-player standings.[4]
This is the latest confirmed result for DaBayBoyz identified in the inspected sources. It does not establish when the team ceased operating.
