History
[edit]2010 season
[edit]The inaugural documented CPCL round was held on 6–7 March 2010 at Cyberjaya Sports Arena.
The competition was presented by Werdna Hol Sportz and used a grass playing field. Cyberjaya-TV was named as its official broadcaster. [1]
Two divisions were offered:
- Open, using the WERD v5.2 format
- Novice, using the WERD v3.2 format
The Open division permitted open marker selection, while the first-round announcement specified house markers for the Novice division. Teams could register up to ten players. [1]
The announcement also introduced a winners' pool. A defined amount from each team's registration fee was placed into a pool and distributed among the eight highest-ranked teams after the preliminary stage. The leading eight teams could also nominate players for a one-on-one knockout competition. [1]
Four CPCL rounds are documented during 2010:

The contemporary records use both “Ying Yang” and “Yin Yang” for the Novice team. The available sources do not establish whether this was an intentional name change or inconsistent spelling. [2][3][4][5]

WPPL-CPCL in 2011
[edit]The competition was promoted under the WPPL-CPCL name in 2011.
A contemporary announcement described it as a player-designed league retaining CPCL's pool-money system and one-on-one competition. Cyberjaya-TV and Cyberview Sdn Bhd were named as media partners, and the events continued to be held at Cyberjaya Sports Arena. [6]
The 2011 competition used three WERD divisions:
- v5.2, also described as Open
- v4.2, described as Intermediate
- v3.2, described as Novice
The Intermediate v4.2 category was documented as a new division in 2011. [7][8]
Three rounds have published results:

Competition format
[edit]WERD format
[edit]CPCL used the WERD format associated with Andrew Loh and Werdna Hol Sportz.
The surviving competition records identify v3.2 and v5.2 categories in 2010. The v4.2 Intermediate division was added by 2011. The sources do not provide a complete technical definition of each version, so the numerical designations should not be interpreted as player counts without further rules documentation. [1][4][7]
Winners' pool
[edit]Part of each team's registration fee was allocated to a winners' pool.
During the 2010 season, the eight highest-ranked teams after the preliminary stage received defined percentages of the pool. The published distribution was:
| Preliminary position | Share |
|---|---|
| 1 | 30% |
| 2 | 25% |
| 3 | 15% |
| 4 | 10% |
| 5–8 | 5% each |
The system was intended to return part of the collected registration money to participating teams before the knockout stage. It remained part of the WPPL-CPCL competition in 2011. [1][4][6]
One-on-one competition
[edit]CPCL events included a separate one-on-one knockout competition involving representatives of leading teams.
The bonus competition was run alongside the main Open and Novice divisions. Its winner was advertised as receiving paintballs and other sponsored prizes. [1][4]
Media coverage
[edit]Cyberjaya-TV was identified as CPCL's official broadcaster in 2010. The partnership continued during the WPPL-CPCL season, with edited tournament videos distributed through the Cyberjaya-TV website and YouTube. [1][6]
The third WPPL-CPCL round in July 2011 was also advertised with a live internet broadcast. [11]
