Air Guns of America

From WikiPaintball

Air Guns of America (AGA) was a paintball marker manufacturer or brand associated with the early development of paintball equipment. Its documented product was the AGA 62, a .62-calibre, double-action paintball pistol featuring a spring-fed ammunition system.

The AGA 62 was among the early double-action paintball markers used before .68 calibre became the dominant standard.[1][2]

History

[edit]

Air Guns of America is listed in the VintageRex historical paintball equipment database as the manufacturer of the AGA 62.[1]

The marker was part of the early generation of paintball pistols that used double-action firing mechanisms. A retrospective article published by Paintball History in August 2015 identifies the AGA 62 among the double-action paintball markers that preceded the introduction of the .68-calibre NSG Rapide in 1988.[2]

Surviving examples have also been documented by vintage paintball collectors. A collection of 17 AGA 62 pistols was described on the M. Carter Brown forum in January 2023, including associated holsters, loading tubes and spare parts. One example reportedly retained an original Adventure Games of America sticker.[3]

The precise founding date, location and operating history of Air Guns of America have not been independently established.

AGA 62

[edit]

The AGA 62 was a .62-calibre paintball pistol with a double-action firing mechanism. Unlike conventional pump-action markers, pulling the trigger both cocked and fired the pistol.

The marker used a spring-loaded internal magazine and an elevator mechanism to position paintballs for firing.

Its external appearance resembled the Crosman 3357 paintball revolver, although the AGA 62 used a different ammunition-feeding arrangement.[1]
