History
[edit]Semi-professional competition
[edit]PBLeagues records document the team competing under the Dallas Diesel name before appearing as ac Diesel during the 2017 season. In 2018, ac Diesel finished third in the semi-professional division at both the Las Vegas Open and Atlantic City Open.[1]
The team finished in the top five at every NXL event during 2019. Its results included first place at the Texas Open, fourth at the Philadelphia Open and third at the World Cup.[1]
An NXL retrospective credited Greg Pauley with bringing together a core of former Texas Storm players and developing the team before its move into professional competition. Ac Diesel entered the professional division following the relegation of Scottsdale Elevation at the end of 2019.[2]
Professional competition
[edit]Ac Diesel began its professional NXL campaign at the 2020 Las Vegas Open, finishing eleventh. It subsequently placed fifth at the 2020 World Cup and sixth at the 2021 Sunshine State Major.[1]
By 2021, the NXL identified Mark Johnson, Clint Johnson and Benjamin Heningburg as central players in the programme.[2]
The team strengthened its roster ahead of the 2023 season with Alex Goldman, Kyle Spicka, Alex Rodriguez and Justin Rabackoff. They joined a group that included Mark Baginski, Mark Johnson and Heningburg. All four recruits appeared on the team's registered roster for the 2023 Sunshine State Major.[3][4]
Ac Diesel finished third at the 2024 World Cup. Its registered roster for that event included Baginski, Carlos Cortes, Goldman, Heningburg, Mark Johnson, Clint Johnson, Rene Rodriguez, Spicka and Jesse Stephens.[1][5]
During 2025, the team placed eighth at the Tampa Bay Open and ninth at the Atlantic City Open, before finishing seventeenth at the World Cup.[1]
