2022 WNXL World Cup

From WikiPaintball

The 2022 WNXL World Cup was the third and final event of the inaugural Women's National Xball League season. It formed part of the 2022 NXL World Cup, which was listed for 10–13 November 2022 at 6000 West Osceola Parkway, Kissimmee, Florida, United States.[1][2]

Eight teams competed. The Heroines defeated Destiny 2–1 in the final, winning both the World Cup and the inaugural WNXL season championship.[2][4]

Venue and format

[edit]

The competition took place at the NXL World Cup tournament site in Kissimmee. The official registration specified 15-minute Xball matches with a five-point mercy rule.[1]

Participating teams

The six teams from the earlier American rounds returned: The Heroines, Destiny, Dallas Vibe, Femmes Fatale, Sacramento Diamonds and Cheetahs. They were joined by Shieldmaidens from Barcelona, Spain, and Suricatos from Colombia.[2][5]

Final

[edit]

The Heroines established a 2–0 lead after Alexis Lazer won individual confrontations against Kary Blanco and Hailey Leyva in the opening two points. Destiny responded through an attack led by Blanco, reducing the deficit to 2–1 with approximately three minutes remaining.[2]

A subsequent minor penalty hindered Destiny's comeback. The Heroines preserved their lead to secure both the event victory and the season championship. Destiny finished runner-up at all three tournaments in the inaugural season.[2]
