Professional participation and layout

[edit]

Fifteen teams entered the professional division. The event used a blind field layout, which teams encountered at the tournament rather than receiving in advance.[1][2]

Professional competition

[edit]

San Diego Dynasty and San Antonio X-Factor were eliminated before the Sunday playoffs. New Orleans Hurricanes reached the playoffs in their second professional NXL event.[2]

In the semi-finals, Edmonton Impact defeated Houston Heat 4–3 in overtime, while Tampa Bay Damage defeated NRG Elite 5–1.[2]

The final finished regulation play tied at 3–3. Sudden-death overtime produced no winning point, and the match proceeded to one-on-one play. Bryan Smith and Zach Yachimec contested the first pairing without scoring. Jacob Edwards then eliminated Brandon Cornell to secure the championship for Damage.[2]

The victory was Damage's first event win since 2013.[2]
