2020 NXL Mid-Atlantic Open
The 2020 NXL Mid-Atlantic Open was a cancelled National Xball League (NXL) paintball tournament scheduled for 25–28 June 2020 in Virginia. The planned venue was The Meadow Event Park in Doswell, in the Richmond region. The event was cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic.[1][2]
Scheduled event
[edit]The tournament was scheduled to begin on 25 June 2020 at The Meadow Event Park. Contemporary reporting by VPM on 1 April stated that the event remained on the calendar while numerous other sporting events in the Richmond region had been postponed. Organisers expected approximately 2,000 visiting participants and family members.[1]
A subsequent contemporary report identified the full scheduled dates as 25–28 June 2020 and referred to the tournament as the Richmond, Virginia event.[2]
Cancellation
[edit]The NXL announced the Virginia event's cancellation through its Facebook page on 5 May 2020, according to a contemporary account published by Zen and the Art of Paintball on 11 May.[2]
The cancellation followed that of the 2020 NXL Texas Open. The same report confirmed that the planned Chicago tournament had also been cancelled and described proposals for smaller regional competitions later in the year.[2]
The Virginia tournament did not take place, and no professional or divisional results were awarded.
