2017 NXL Australia

From WikiPaintball

2017 NXL Australia covers the regional and national NXL Australia paintball competitions documented during 2017. The year included the conclusion of the league's advertised July 2016–June 2017 national season and its first national championship, held on 11 June at Paintball Games Coldstream in Victoria.[1][2]

RAW Empire won the national finals, ahead of South East Cartel and Hustle. Contemporary participant reports also document results from two Queensland rounds.[2][3]

Season structure

[edit]

The original national arrangements linked regional competitions to a national championship, with teams qualifying through their local series. The advertised season ran from July 2016 to June 2017 rather than following the calendar year.[1]

The original league website proposed a national championship in Canberra. A contemporary report confirms that the finals actually took place at Coldstream on 11 June 2017.[1][2]

The table links the individual event articles and distinguishes confirmed completion from advertised arrangements.

Victorian programme

[edit]

RAW Paintball identified its combined Division 1 and Division 2 Open competition as associated with NXL Australia. Its advertised arrangements provided for the leading three teams at the end of the July 2016–June 2017 NXL season to qualify for the national finals.[4]

The organiser separately scheduled Division 3 Amateur and Division 4 Beginner/Novice competitions for 25 February and 1 April, preceding the corresponding Open dates. These lower divisions were part of RAW's programme; the published description specifically associated the Open division with NXL Australia.[4]

WA Round 4 date discrepancy

[edit]

WASP's calendar and one official registration form advertised Round 4 for 23 April 2017. That form required deposits by 17 April.[6][7]

A second official registration form advertised the same round and venue for 30 April, with deposits due by 24 April. Both forms offered Division 1 (Open) and Division 2. Neither document establishes the actual date of play.[7][8]

Queensland

[edit]

Nathan McDonnell's contemporary season report confirms that he competed as a guest player for BC Rift at Queensland Round 3. BC Rift reached a final against Eastside Raw, which remained level after regulation time. Eastside Raw won the sudden-death overtime point.[3]

McDonnell also reported that Danger Zone finished third at the final Queensland round in late May.[3]

The participant account does not identify the division for either result or provide numerical match scores.[3]

National finals

[edit]

South East Cartel's report confirms the following podium at the national finals on 11 June:[2]

Position Team
1 RAW Empire
2 South East Cartel
3 Hustle

South East Cartel and RAW Empire drew their preliminary encounter and finished that stage equal first. RAW Empire subsequently defeated Cartel in the final.[2]

The report also identifies Apparition, HK Reaper Crew and Asylum as participants, without giving their final placings.[2]

Later-year advertised events

[edit]

WASP's 2017 calendar listed a new-season five-player Round 1 for 6 August and Round 2 for 22 October.[6]

RAW's calendar advertised further Open events for 30 July and 8 October.[4] These dates are advance schedule entries rather than verified completion or results records.
