Formats

[edit]

The 2016 rulebook specified a timed, multiple-point format for Professional, Semi-Pro and Division 2–4 X-Ball. Matches ended when time expired with one team ahead, or when a team reached its division's mercy-rule lead.[7]

Division Regulation playing time Mercy-rule lead
Professional 16 minutes Seven points
Semi-Pro 15 minutes Five points
Division 2 15 minutes Five points
Division 3 12 minutes Four points
Division 4 12 minutes Four points

The professional division comprised 16 teams. The rulebook also provided for split-deck scheduling, in which two matches alternated points on the same field.[7]

Alongside X-Ball, the event programme included separate five-player, ten-player and pump competitions. World Cup also included Amateur ten-player, Division 500 five-player and Amateur two-player divisions.[8][9][10][11][12]

TRADEMYGUN OUTLAWS finished last in the 2016 professional standings but remained in the professional field at the 2017 Las Vegas Open.[1][14]
