2016 NXL Great Lakes Open

From WikiPaintball

The 2016 NXL Great Lakes Open was a National Xball League (NXL) paintball tournament held from 12 to 14 August 2016 at Victory Park in North Ridgeville, Ohio, United States. It was the fourth event of the league's five-event national season.[1][2]

Edmonton Impact won the professional tournament, defeating San Diego Dynasty 6–3 in the final.[3][4]

Dates and venue

[edit]

Competition took place at Victory Park, 7777 Victory Lane, North Ridgeville, from Friday, 12 August, to Sunday, 14 August 2016.[1]

The venue's contemporary announcement described the tournament as the second annual NXL Great Lakes Open. Alongside tournament play, the event offered a paintball trade show, professional player autograph sessions and public shooting activities. General admission and parking were free, with separate grandstand and VIP options.[2]

The organisers also advertised an introductory intramural tournament for Sunday, 14 August, offering three-player and five-player groups with rental equipment.[5]

Competition formats

[edit]

The official registration record lists 154 registered and paid team entries across the national event's competition groups.[1]

Advertised X-Ball game times were:

  • Professional: 16 minutes.
  • Semi-Pro and Division 2: 15 minutes.
  • Divisions 3 and 4: 12 minutes.[1]

Traditional five-player competition was offered in Divisions 3, 4 and 5, with five-minute game times. Open Pump five-player competition was also listed with five-minute game times, while Open ten-player competition had ten-minute game times.[1]

Only one team entered Open Pump. The published placings list West Coast Sharks 1 first, without ranking points; this listing does not establish that a contested pump tournament took place.[1][6]
