2011 NZPPL Rotorua Tournament

From WikiPaintball

2011 NZPPL Rotorua Tournament was a five-player paintball competition held on 4–5 June 2011 at Lakes Ranch, near Rotorua, New Zealand. It was the second event of the 2011 New Zealand Paintball Players League (NZPPL) programme. Disposal Unit won the reported Cup standings, while Phoenix won the Plate.[1][2][3]

Organisation and format

[edit]

The tournament took place over Queen’s Birthday weekend at Lakes Ranch on State Highway 30. The advertised format was a double round robin on an inflatable-bunker field, with teams competing to eliminate opponents and capture a centre flag. Spectator admission was free.[1]

The contemporary newspaper preview described a field approximately 40 by 22 metres and anticipated ten teams. The subsequent results recorded eleven entries.[1][3]

Rotorua player Royston Bartholomew represented Tempest and was involved in organising the event. Tempest entered the round sixth in the series standings.[1]

The Rotorua tournament followed the opening round in the Levin area in April. A third event was scheduled for Waikanae over Labour Weekend.[1][2]
