2010 NPPL season
The 2010 NPPL season was the four-event United States tournament season of the National Professional Paintball League (NPPL). It followed the 2009 USPL season, with the circuit returning to NPPL branding after the US Paintball League acquired rights to the name.[1]
Tampa Bay Damage won the professional series championship, taking three consecutive tournament victories at Chicago, the D.C. Challenge and Las Vegas. San Diego Dynasty won the opening event at Huntington Beach.[1][2]
Return to NPPL branding
[edit]The US Paintball League had organised the 2009 programme following the collapse of the previous NPPL operating company. It subsequently obtained rights to the NPPL name, which was used for the 2010 circuit.[1]
Some contemporary WARPIG headings and archive addresses retained the USPL name, although the reports identified the competition as NPPL events.[1][3]
The league offered professional and Divisions 1–3 seven-player competition, alongside five-player and pump divisions at selected events.[4]

The Chicago tournament shared CPX Sports and Memorial Day weekend with Living Legends III, bringing tournament and scenario competition to the same venue.[3]
The Las Vegas competition dates were 8–10 October in the league announcement. WARPIG's report used a broader 6–10 October heading.[4][6]

Professional competition
[edit]Dynasty defeated Edmonton Impact at Huntington Beach.[1]
Damage won Chicago ahead of Impact, Los Angeles Infamous and St. Louis Avalanche. It then defeated Infamous in the D.C. Challenge final.[5][7]
At Las Vegas, Damage recovered from losing the opening championship game to defeat Oakland Blast two games to one. Edmonton Impact finished third and St. Louis Avalanche fourth.[6]

WARPIG's Las Vegas report contains conflicting pump results: its introductory list names 406's Finest, while its detailed finals account records LA Hitmen defeating Milwaukee Throwback. The table follows the detailed account.[6]
Season championship
[edit]Tampa Bay Damage won the professional season championship. Las Vegas completed its third consecutive NPPL tournament victory.[2]
Event placings should be distinguished from season standings. In particular, the top four professional finishers listed in the Las Vegas report describe that tournament rather than the final season ranking.[6]
All-Star competition and S7 exhibition
[edit]The D.C. Challenge included an Empire Paintball-sponsored East–West professional All-Star contest. The West won three consecutive games in the best-of-five competition.[5]
The league subsequently announced an exhibition of its proposed S7 format at Las Vegas, following its use during the D.C. All-Star competition. The announcement described the format as under consideration for 2011.[4]
