2010 NPPL Chicago Open
The 2010 NPPL Chicago Open, also advertised as the Windy City Open, was a National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) tournament held from 29 to 31 May 2010 at CPX Sports in Illinois. It was the second tournament of the 2010 NPPL season and shared its venue and Memorial Day weekend with Living Legends III. Tampa Bay Damage won the professional division, ahead of Edmonton Impact.[1][2][3]
Venue and scheduling
[edit]The tournament took place at CPX Sports, also known as Challenge Park Xtreme, in the Joliet area of Illinois. WARPIG identified the event location as Elwood, while contemporary Planet Eclipse coverage described it as Joliet.[1][4]
Competition began on Saturday, 29 May, and continued through the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, 31 May.[1]
The NPPL's published season calendar called the event the Windy City Open. Contemporary reports also used the Chicago Open name.[1][3]
Living Legends connection
[edit]CPX simultaneously hosted the third annual Living Legends scenario game, produced by Viper Scenarios. NPPL competition used the tournament fields, while Living Legends occupied the park's scenario and themed playing areas.[1]
The combined weekend brought tournament and scenario players to the same venue, with a shared audience for the accompanying trade exhibition.[1]
